Elena’s POV: “Help me!” the last voice I heard as I walked back to my house unbothered. I gently shut the door behind me, the soft click echoing through my empty room. My legs felt weak, but I forced myself to keep moving, I slowly sat on the bed waiting for the soldiers to come. By morning, I was still curled in the same spot, my muscles stiff and my throat dry. Nothing. Not a knock, not a footstep. I had slipped through the cracks.
