I was dazed when he pulled our lips apart and pressed his forehead against mine. My soul was wandering somewhere, and suddenly it was pulled back into my body all of a sudden.
“Fiona?”
“I even forgot that today was my birthday. My mom would sneak into my room and put a small birthday cake with candles on the nightstand. I thought I would never celebrate another birthday after she died.”
“We’re going to celebrate your birthday tonight.”
“You mean this dinner is to celebrate my birthday?”
Joshua nodded slowly and kissed the corner of my lips.
I was speechless. I didn’t expect this creepy man to remember my birthday and prepare a surprise for me.
“Such a lovely husband.”
“Let’s go. We’ll be late if we don’t hurry. I have some gifts for you.”
