Sade sat at her desk, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she finalized last-minute details for the upcoming product launch. The project had consumed most of her time lately, and she was grateful for it. It kept her from dwelling too much on Marco’s refusal to sign the separation papers.
She looked better than she had in months—her braids were freshly done, her makeup was back, and the hollow look in her eyes had started to fade. She wasn’t okay, but she was managing.
Across the office, Cheryl strolled by, flashing her engagement ring like it was a trophy.
