Tuesday, 12th October 2008 Bombay, IndiaThe houseboy walked into the garden looking for his master, Balan Khrishnumurthy. The grounds of his residence were extensive but Balan was a creature of habit and the smartly dressed peon knew exactly where to find him. After his son had died he had planted three magnolia trees in a pretty corner of the garden where his ashes were spread. He would often spend some of his leisure time tending the plants and remembering. He stood up, brushing his hands clean of the dirt, alerted by the bleeping phone that was being carried by the houseboy. Balan admired his handiwork as the boy approached.
