Despite it being the middle of the night, it wasn’t particularly cold. Opposite him, three vagrants lay huddled together against the wall. They slept while Luke sat with his back to the wall pretending to doze. He raised his head as he saw the bright glare of headlights appear at the end of the street as a small minibus drove towards him, navigating the potholes in the road. The bus stopped abruptly in front of the sentry box and the driver jumped out, walking around the side to open a sliding door and let his passengers out. Surreptitiously, Luke checked the time and then watched with interest as the Prime Minister’s personal household staff changed shift.
