Open your shirt

He turned back to the cubicle, his voice cutting through the office like a blade wrapped in silk. “Mr. Hargrove, that behavior is completely unacceptable. Abusing interns is not only unprofessional—it’s illegal. You will not raise a hand to them again. Ever. I will not tolerate it in my company.” Hargrove’s face drained of color, his mouth opening and closing like a fish. “I—I was just enforcing discipline, Mr. Dominic. She made a mistake and—” “You will not justify it,” Dominic interrupted, tone calm yet ironclad. “Next time I hear of it, you will be terminated on the spot. Do you understand?” Hargrove nodded frantically, voice cracking. “Yes, sir. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” Dominic gave a single, decisive nod, dismissing him with a wave. The senior shuffled away, shoulders hunched, muttering apologies under his breath as he disappeared into his office. Aria stood frozen, eyes wide, the relief from Dominic’s protection still buzzing through her like electricity. She didn’t want to look scared, but her body betrayed her—the way her shoulders curved inward, her breath shallow. Dominic noticed immediately. He remembered the first time he’d ever laid eyes on her, back when she was just an intern reporting for duty in his company. He’d been standing in the lobby, reviewing quarterly reports, when she’d walked in with her neat skirt, her polite smile, her efficient nod. He’d been absolutely mesmerised. That quiet grace, those innocent eyes that somehow carried the weight of someone who’d already known pain. He wouldn’t deny it. He’d felt something stir in his chest that day—something he hadn’t allowed to name yet. Then there was the club. The first time he’d seen her there, she’d been standing near the edge, a lost look on her face, clutching a glass of water like it was the only thing keeping her upright. He’d been surprised, but he could tell she hadn’t meant to be there. No spark, no seductive hunger like the other subs who threw themselves at him. Still, something had clicked— a deep, undeniable pull. He’d felt that same strong desire to make her his. To claim her, to guide her, to build something real between them. But not like this. Not while she was still carrying fear like a shield. She needed to come to him on her own, not because she was running from something—or someone. He smiled then, a small, knowing smile that carried years of wisdom. “Come with me, Aria.” She followed without hesitation, her steps tentative but obedient. Inside his office, the door clicked shut behind them, sealing them in a world of quiet calm. He gestured to the chair opposite his desk. “Sit.” She did, hands folding in her lap, eyes fixed on the floor. He poured a glass of water from the fridge in the corner, setting it in front of her. “What happened outside?” he asked, voice low and steady, laced with that patient curiosity he reserved for moments like this. Aria swallowed, her voice barely above a whisper. “I made a mistake with the database. Mr. Hargrove got angry and… he was going to hit me with the file.” Dominic’s jaw tightened for only a fraction of a second, then relaxed. “The mistake wasn’t so big that you should be scolded that way. Small errors happen. We all make them. Apologising and fixing them is part of learning here.” She looked up then, those big, innocent eyes locking onto his. They were wide, vulnerable, carrying a purity that made his breath catch for a moment. He wanted to corrupt those eyes, to teach them the art of submission, to let her see the world the way he saw it. But he calmed himself instantly—years of control, of watching subs who’d been broken and rebuilding them stronger. He wouldn’t rush this. Not with her. “Are you okay?” he asked, leaning forward slightly. “Why does it seem like you’re always so scared, Aria?” She couldn’t tell him. The words stuck in her throat, but she stayed silent, lips pressing together. He sighed, the sound carrying the weight of his wisdom. He wanted to know everything about her. But he felt it then, that instinct: the moment he reached out too soon, she would draw back, pull away like a shell. So he needed to wait. Be patient. Let her come to it on her own. She slowly lifted the glass, took a sip, then another, the cold liquid grounding her. He watched her for a long moment, observing with that steady, unhurried gaze. “Are you free for lunch today?” Aria blinked, confusion flickering across her face. “Lunch? Why? Is there any work to do?” Dominic smiled again, this one warmer, laced with that sophisticated charm he wielded so carefully. “No work at all. I’d take you to lunch.” Her eyes widened in genuine surprise, a soft choke escaping her as she nearly set the glass down too quickly. “Oh— I mean, thank you, but I—” He reached across the desk, resting a hand gently on her back to steady her. The contact was brief, supportive. But then she felt it—his fingers tracing the faint lines of bruises hidden beneath her blouse, the raised edges of old welts. They were deliberate, from a hand that had struck her. His expression darkened, but he didn’t pull away immediately. Instead, he rubbed her back in slow, soothing circles, his voice calm. Aria choked again, louder this time, a startled sound. She pushed him away with both hands, her face flushing with embarrassment. “I—I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—” He withdrew his hand slowly, leaning back in his chair. She looked up at him, eyes huge and frightened once more, shoulders drawn tight. He sighed, deeper this time, his wisdom guiding him through the silence. He could see it clear as day—the fear she carried, the way she flinched at the slightest touch. He wanted to ask, to demand the truth, but he held back. “Someone hit you?” he said finally, voice low and certain. No accusation. Just observation. She panicked then, her entire body tensing. She didn’t answer. Just stared at him, silent, tears glistening at the edges of her eyes. He waited, patient, letting the silence stretch just enough. Then he spoke again, his tone steady and wise. “Aria… I need you to open your shirt. Just a little. I need to see those bruises. Please.”
