I got off the bed and moved past him. I stumbled on the bedclothes that our s*x had scattered to the floor. I could hear him following me, reaching out to grab me but I lurched forward avoiding his touch. The screen door that led to his tiny balcony stuck in its old tracks so that I practically had to yank it open. “Anson!” Barrett called out my name and when he tried to follow me out onto the patio, I held a hand up for him to stop.
