CHAPTER 4

The door swung open, revealing Dominic Moon’s towering figure. His presence was overwhelming, his gaze piercing as he stepped inside. "Mr. Moon, you can’t be in here," Dr. Reynolds said, his voice tense. "Of course, I can," Dominic replied smoothly. "It’s my pup, and I can smell him." My heart stopped. His pup? I barely had time to process his words before he strode towards me, his eyes locked on mine. He stopped by my bedside, his tone calm but with an undercurrent of authority. "How much do you want for the baby?" Anger surged through me. "My baby is not for sale," I snapped. Dr. Reynolds quickly interjected, "Mr. Moon, this is a misunderstanding. Ella’s baby was supposed to be created from a different donor." Dominic’s gaze darkened as he turned to the doctor. "Then why is my name on that vial?" "It could have been mislabeled," Dr. Reynolds suggested nervously. "We should check with the lab before jumping to conclusions. I'll look into it." Dr. Reynolds hurried out, leaving me alone with Dominic. I assumed Dominic would follow him, but instead, he locked the door behind the doctor and approached me again, his movements deliberate. "Did you steal my sperm?" he demanded, his voice low and dangerous. "Thought you could cash in? You know the mother of an alpha wolf heir is taken care of for the rest of her life. So was that your plan, Ellie?" "My name is Ella Barton," I corrected, my voice trembling but firm. "And I have no clue what you're talking about. My child is not an alpha wolf heir. Unlock the door." Dominic didn’t move. "I’ll take whatever test you need to prove the child isn’t yours," I added. "The doctor will be back with the bloodwork, and we can handle this properly." He seemed to consider this for a moment, then walked over and unlocked the door. "Fine. But if that is my child, and you're a human carrying him, then you're both dead. For your safety, I suggest you stop acting like a human and start acting like the mother of an alpha wolf heir." I glared at him. "I’m not going to act like a wolf because I’m a human, and I have manners, unlike you." He smirked, a cold, calculated expression. "Isn’t that unfortunate for both of us." The door swung open, and Dr. Reynolds stepped back in, his face pale and drawn. He avoided my gaze as he spoke. "Mr. Moon, I'm so sorry. We've made a horrible mistake." I felt the room spinning. My heart thudded painfully in my chest. "The baby... is he?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Dr. Reynolds nodded solemnly. "Yes. The tests confirmed it." Dominic snatched the papers from Dr. Reynolds’ hand, scanning them quickly. He nodded, satisfied. "It’s not ideal," he said, his tone measured, "but I am going to raise him to be a proper heir." He turned to Dr. Reynolds. "Mr. Reynolds, we will be in touch to make arrangements for the child. Thank you." Before I could process what was happening, Dominic turned on his heel and left, leaving the door open in his wake. The room felt colder without his imposing presence, but the tension lingered in the air. I stood there, frozen, trying to comprehend what just happened. An arrangement? He was talking about my baby like a business deal. My baby. Finally, I turned to Dr. Reynolds, my voice trembling. "An arrangement? What do I do, Mr. Reynolds? A wolf cannot be the father of my baby." He looked at me with sympathy, but it did little to soothe my rising panic. "Ella, I—" "No," I cut him off, pacing the room, my mind racing. "Dominic Moon is the most powerful alpha werewolf in the world. He’ll stop at nothing to take my child." I sank onto the edge of the bed, my hands trembling as I rubbed my temples. "What the hell am I supposed to do?" I muttered, my mind racing with every possible scenario. Dr. Reynolds tried to offer reassurance, though his words did little to calm me. "It won’t be that bad, Ella. He’s a billionaire, and despite everything, Dominic Moon isn’t a bad guy." I scoffed, my voice bitter. "If anyone asks, I’m a wolf?" I knew where he was heading, but it felt absurd. He sighed heavily. "Ella, it’s not safe otherwise. Just... go get some rest. I’ll see you at your next checkup. But in the meantime, please, be careful." I nodded numbly, my thoughts spinning out of control. As Dr. Reynolds left, I whispered to myself, "But I’m not a wolf... I’m human. How can I pretend to be something I’m not?" Dominic POV I leaned back in the plush leather seat of my car, the engine idling softly as I watched Ella leave the hospital. The sun had started to dip beneath the horizon, casting a warm glow that seemed to only intensify the tension running through me. Her movements were slow, deliberate, as though she could feel the weight of the world pressing on her, but she didn’t know what was coming. She didn’t know I was watching. Her eyes stayed fixed ahead, and I could see the struggle in her face. She was trying to hold it together, to make sense of what had just happened, but I could almost feel the storm brewing inside her. I knew she’d be furious. I knew she’d be scared. But I also knew that, deep down, she was mine. And I wasn’t about to let anyone or anything take my son from me. As she reached her car and climbed in, I took a deep breath. She’s mine. I grabbed my phone from the passenger seat and dialed Hugo. His voice came through the line almost immediately. "Hugo, get everything you have on Ella Barton. I want everything that makes her human—destroyed. And I need her followed and protected. She's not going anywhere. Oh, and if the press asks... she's my Luna." I hung up before he could respond, staring at her car as it pulled away from the hospital parking lot.
