Chapter eight: she now my luna

1039 Words
Ella's POV Dominic didn't even glance back as he tightened his grip on my hand. But before we could fully exit, he turned his head half a turn, his voice steel-like. "Ella is my Luna. Don't meddle with her again." Mike, still on the ground, looked up with open, shocked eyes. "Wait… You're a wolf?" he stammered, his face contorting into shock. I raised an eyebrow, tilting my head fractionally. "I guess we both had secrets, Mike," I said, my tone rich with pretended pity. Then I smiled. "Maybe that's the reason why I never conceived. Your disgusting little human semen were too weak." Harper emitted a startled gasp. The receptionist tried to hide a laugh. Mike's face burned a fiery red as he stood up. "You…" Dominic gave a soft warning growl, his body tightening next to me. Mike clamped shut immediately, his bluster fading in seconds. "Good call," Dominic growled then turned his whole attention back on me. "Hey, baby," he said now that his voice was soft as he stroked his fingers over the curve of my cheek. "You don't need to spend your breath talking trash.". Mike's face twisted in rage and bewilderment. "You said you were human," he spat, his voice full of incredulity. I looked him dead in the eye, a sneer curling my lips. "I lied." Harper's mouth dropped open. Mike's nostrils widened as if he was about to say something else, but before he could, Dominic stepped forward, his frame casting a shadow over both of them. "Mr. Maxter," Dominic replied, his voice calm but deadly, "if you'd rather assist in breaking both of your wrists, I'd be delighted to help. Otherwise, I suggest you keep your tongue." Mike's gulp was audible. Dominic turned to the receptionist. "He's fired. Effective immediately." The receptionist nodded immediately, already typing something into the computer. Mike gazed at Dominic, stunned. "You can't just—" "I can," Dominic cut him off, his voice as sharp as a blade. "And I already have." Mike's fists were clenched and his face was an ugly red, but he didn't dare say another word. Dominic didn't give him a second glance as he dragged me along. The elevator doors opened again, and we stepped inside. The doors closed behind us, shutting us in, and I let out a slow breath. "Thank you," I replied, touching the side of my face that Harper had slapped. My cheek still stung. Dominic turned to me, his expression unreadable. His fingers brushed my cheek, his touch surprisingly gentle. "No one lays hands on my Luna," he whispered, his tone low, almost possessive. Something flickered in his gaze, something dark and unreadable. My heart performed a peculiar flip. Mike’s face drained of color. “Police station?” he echoed, his voice shaking slightly. Dominic smirked, tilting his head. “Oh, you didn’t think I’d let that slide, did you? Drugging my Luna for years? You must be out of your mind.” He turned to security. “Make sure he gets there safely.” The guards stepped forward, grabbing Mike by the arms. Harper, who had been watching with wide eyes, suddenly turned on him. “Wait—what? Drugging her?” Mike swallowed hard, looking at her desperately. “Baby, I can explain.” Harper folded her arms. “And the loans? You told me you paid them off.” She turned back to Dominic. “What the hell is he talking about?” Dominic crossed his arms. “Oh, you didn’t know? Loan sharks have been after him for months. It’s only a matter of time before they catch up.” He smirked. “But I’m guessing they won’t need to. The police will take care of him first.” Harper’s face twisted in disgust. “You lied. You f*****g loser.” Mike tried to reach for her, but she stepped back, yanking the engagement ring off her finger. She threw it at his feet with a clatter. “Enjoy your life behind bars, baby,” she sneered before spinning on her heel and storming out. Mike struggled against security. “Harper! Wait! I can explain!” She didn’t even turn around. I stood there, watching the scene unfold, my heart pounding. Dominic glanced at me, then leaned down slightly, his breath warm against my ear. “You’re welcome,” he murmured, his voice filled with amusement. I let out a slow breath, looking up at him. “Why do I feel like you enjoyed that way too much?” I asked. Dominic smirked. “Because I did.” the security team tightened their grip on Mike, one of them muttered, "It's over for you too, buddy." They dragged him toward the exit, his protests echoing through the lobby. Dominic gently guided me into his office, closing the door behind us. The room was spacious, adorned with dark wood and soft lighting. He led me to a leather chair and crouched in front of me, his eyes scanning my face with concern. "Let me see," he murmured, reaching out to tilt my chin. I winced as his fingers brushed the tender spot where Harper had slapped me. "I'm sorry," he said softly, his thumb gently caressing the reddened skin. "I should have intervened sooner." I shook my head, offering a small smile. "It's not your fault. Besides, I think she got what she deserved." Dominic's lips twitched into a smirk. "True." He stood and walked to a sleek cabinet, retrieving a first aid kit. As he dabbed a cool antiseptic on my cheek, I studied his face, the sharp jawline, the intense focus in his eyes. "Thank you," I whispered. He paused, meeting my gaze. "For what?" "For standing up for me. For... everything." Dominic's expression softened, a rare vulnerability surfacing. "You're my Luna. It's my duty to protect you." A warmth spread through me at his words, but before I could respond, a sharp knock interrupted the moment. Dominic straightened, his demeanor shifting back to the composed Alpha. "Enter." The door opened, revealing Janis with a stern expression. "Alpha, there's a situation that requires your immediate attention." Dominic glanced at me, his eyes conveying unspoken apologies. "Stay here. I'll handle this."
