Ella's POV
The room was quiet except for the heavy beat of Dominic's breathing beside me. His confession hung in my mind. He wanted me. But he was afraid.
I turned onto my side, watching him. His angular face was calm in the dim light, but there was something else, something held back. He wasn't telling me everything.
Before I could question him, a loud knock boomed at the door.
Dominic sat up, eyes flashing with irritation. "Who the devil…."
Hugo's voice cut him off. "Alpha, you need to come see this."
Dominic was already getting out of bed, pulling on a shirt. I trailed behind him, my heart pounding. Whatever it was, it was huge.
When we opened the door, Hugo's expression was serious. "Lydia's gone missing."
I blinked. "What?"
