The fear she had been bottling up for four long days came pouring out all at once. She buried her face into Renn’s heavy vest, her small frame shaking violently as she let out a loud, ragged sob. She clung to him like a child, her hands gripping the fabric as if she were afraid that letting go would make the guards appear all over again.
Renn kept his big arms wrapped tightly around her shoulders, his chin resting on top of her head. He rocked her gently, his dark amber eyes scanning the broken doorway where Leo was still standing.
