CHAPTER 4 — SICKER ANIMAL

She pretended to have fainted, expecting everyone to rush toward her and rescue her. But what she didn't expect was for their argument to escalate to its maximum volume. She tried to listen to what was causing the argument, but a moment later, she heard the sound of a flower vase being thrown and shattered on the marble floor beside her. She shivered with fear. No matter what, she had to find out what was causing the family problem this time. She was still thinking when someone suddenly picked her up. What the f**k?! she screamed inwardly. But something felt strange about the person carrying her. From the way he struggled, she could tell that he was young and fragile. His breathing was unsteady, as though he were carrying something extremely heavy. She shifted slightly in his arms so she could examine him properly. After a moment, she was stunned. What?! How could it be Damian? She couldn't believe the fragile boy carrying her was actually Damian Wayne. Damian Wayne, on the other hand, was only eighteen years old and had a bright future ahead of him. After hearing the heated argument coming from the main house while he was in the servants' quarters, he immediately rushed toward the mansion to find out what was happening. But when he saw the scene before him, he was stunned. The thought of Hailey lying unconscious on the cold floor sent shivers down his spine. After gathering enough courage, he rushed forward to rescue her. However, she was too heavy and a head taller than him, making it difficult for him to carry her. Hailey was a curvy girl with long, dark hair, deep-brown watery eyes, and rosy lips. She was dressed in a short black gown and white sneakers that day, revealing her beautiful curves. In two words, she looked sexy and adorable. Damian tried his best to carry her from the main mansion to the swimming pool area. The butler wanted to help him, but Damian refused. After finally reaching the poolside, he gently placed her on the ground. He dipped his hand into the pool, preparing to sprinkle some water onto her face. His expression was filled with concern. But when he turned around, he was stunned to see Hailey staring angrily at him with a fierce gaze. He opened his mouth to say something, but the words became stuck in his throat. THUD! Suddenly, Hailey pushed him into the deep swimming pool. Luckily, Damian knew how to swim. He quickly resurfaced, gasping for breath. “Damian! I told you not to mess with me!” Hailey glared at him. “I'm old enough to be your sister!” She folded her arms. “How old are you? You're only eighteen!” Her voice became harsher. “My parents picked you up from the gutter, clothed you, sent you to school, and supported you all these years.” She pointed angrily at him. “And you, this stupid, stinky, sick animal! The only thing you can do to repay their kindness is pursue their daughter, right?” She scoffed. “Dream on, sick animal!” Hailey turned away. “Maybe you want them to stop supporting the stupid orphanage you came from. i***t!” With that, she stormed off. Damian, on the other hand, was completely drenched from head to toe. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts, and black sneakers. He tried desperately to hold back the hot tears threatening to fall from his eyes. But eventually, he couldn't suppress them anymore. The tears streamed freely down his face. It hurt him deeply whenever Hailey called him a “sick animal” or mocked him for being asthmatic. It wasn't his fault that he was sick. Ten minutes later, Damian was shivering from the cold without even realizing it. Suddenly, he felt a warm hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see who it was. The moment he recognized the person, he broke down and fell into her arms. MEANWHILE… Hailey stormed back into the living room, but to her surprise, everything had been cleaned and put back in order. “What's going on here?” she wondered aloud. Her father and her elder brother, Gregor, were sitting in the living room discussing business, while her mother was nowhere to be seen. Hailey stood there, confused. Maybe I was hallucinating earlier. A moment later, Mrs. Parker emerged from the kitchen carrying a tray filled with dishes, with several servants quietly following behind her. After placing the tray down, she and the servants arranged the dining table. “Everyone, dinner is ready!” she called. Hailey was completely confused. Or is it only when Gregor is home that they suddenly act loving and caring? She couldn't understand what was happening. Before she knew it, everyone was already seated around the dining table. Hailey decided not to dwell on it and joined them for dinner. THE SERVANTS' QUARTERS “Damian, aren't you going back to the orphanage today? It's already late.” “No, Wendy. School resumes tomorrow,” he replied. “Oh, my bad. I forgot.” Wendy paused for a moment. “But can I ask you a question?” “Go ahead,” Damian replied softly. Wendy was a chubby young woman in her twenties who worked as a servant for the Parker family. She was Damian's closest friend in the servants' quarters. She was cool, friendly, and kind. Despite their age difference, she considered Damian a dear friend. She continued. “Why don't you just give up on her? She doesn't seem interested in you, so why do you keep pursuing her?” She sighed. “Hailey clearly looks down on you. And when you think about it, her family feeds you, clothes you, supports the orphanage you came from, and even pays for your academy.” She shook her head. “As the daughter of your benefactors, Hailey will always look down on you.” “Come back to your senses, Damian! I've already told you this several times.” Damian Wayne was speechless. He didn't know what to say or do. After a moment, he finally replied: “Wendy, you once told me that when you love someone, you must fight for their love.” Boom! For a moment, Wendy was speechless. “But…” she hesitated before continuing. “That girl is a b***h!” She rolled her eyes. “She goes to bars, parties, birthday parties, pool parties, and all sorts of places with that short girl, July, and that big-butted girl…” She frowned, trying to remember the girl's name. “Ermmm… what's her name again?” She scratched her head. “Ermmm… Felicia!” She finally remembered. “All three of them are beautiful but have no brains! They're always hanging out with different guys every day.” Wendy poured out all the hatred she had been holding toward the three girls at once. Her displeasure was clearly evident on her face.
