A battle of speed

"Call teacher Yua, we need a referee", Shu said to his classmates.

"Yes"!

"Oi Shu, are you sure about this? What about your injury yesterday"? Akari asked as she is worried about Shu.

"Don't worry about me, Akari. I got this".

"Oh, you're pretty confident. Shu".

Yua is now at the school grounds.

"Are you sure about this, Shu"? Yua asked.

"There's no one here in the academy who can rival him". She added.

"Don't worry about me. The one you should be worrying about is whether the Prince can still live on after our match tomorrow".

"What did you say?! You bastard. I'll kill you"!

"Mana Zone: Light Magic--"

"Stop with your spells Prince Ryusei. That can wait until your battle with Shu".

"I understand. Shu Iwasaki, be prepared on our battle. I'll make you pay big for looking down on me".

"We will conduct this match at the arena, the Clover Colosseum".

"Then it's deci-"

"But it will not be held today. We must schedule a special match since this a request from the Prince of the Diamond Kingdom".

"I've got no problem with that".

"Why not just held it today"? Ryusei asks.

"Because we don't know when you will call your dragon".

"As if I would need my dragon to fight him. My Light Magic excels in my Kingdom, there's no way that a mere first-year would make me sweat".

"Only Asahi Futatsugi and the other two dragon wielders have forced me to call her in a battle".

The other two dragon wielders? It probably means that there are two people out there who also wield a dragon.

"We will schedule that match for tomorrow so that you don't have to wait".

"Then I'm fine with it. I'll see you at the Colosseum tomorrow, Shu Iwasaki. Don't disappoint me".

"Oh by the way Akari, tell Shu more about me so that he can make a decision whether to back out or not. I'm off then".

Ryusei walked out of the academy.

Akari approached Shu.

"Shu, are you sure with this? He is the MVP of the Magic Competition last year. He uses light magic and a wiel-"

"Don't worry about me. Do you not trust the person who saved you from the devils"?

"I know but"...

"Have faith in me. I got this". Yoru said as he patted Akari's head.

"Go now and get ready. The practice matches are about to start". Yua said to the students.

"Goodluck with your match tomorrow Shu".

"I don't plan on losing it, Miss Yua".

"We will now start the practice matches. Mages, position yourself".

Then, the practice matches have now commenced.

Mages clashed through the field with their own magic power. They have shown incredible strength in battle. It appears that the Magic Academy stands a chance at this year's Magic Competition.

At the fifth battle. Shu battled against a guy who uses Wind Magic.

But, Shu just immediately finished the match with his Thunder Sword s***h.

The practice matches have now come to an end.

"That's it for today students. Go home now and get rest. In three days, the practice matches will come to an end and we will now know who will represent the class for the selection matches of the first-years. That's it. Go home now".

"Thank you so much, teacher"!

"Shu, come with me".

Yoru followed Yua towards the Colosseum.

"We're here now".

"This is... the Clover Colosseum, right"?

"Yes. This is where you and Prince Ryusei will fight tomorrow".

"Then, why did you call me here"?

"Don't lose".

"I'm pretty sure you're aware of the situation Akari is in right now. Sora must have told you".

"We're childhood friends after all".

"About Akari's situation, don't worry about it. I swear that I will win tomorrow".

"I'm off now, teacher. I have to get rest for tomorrow's match. See you then".

A new day has come. It is now the day where Shu and Ryusei will battle.

A large crowd have gathered on the Colosseum to see Prince Ryusei fight again.

"I am Yua Yotsuba, a teacher at the Magic Academy and I'll be the referee of this special match. This is a showdown between the Prince of the Diamond Kingdom, Ryusei Kato! And his opponent is the first-year student at the Magic Academy, Shu Iwasaki"!

"Then, mages, position yourself"!

"So you didn't back out, Shu".

"Why would I"?

"I assume that Akari have tell you things about me but still, you're brave enough to face me. Just tell me, who the hell are you, Shu"?

"I'm just a first-year student at the Magic Academy, that's all".

"Let the match, commence"!

And so the match has started.

"Allow me to show you my power"!

"Light Creation Magic: Spear of Heaven"!

"So you're a spear user huh".

"Mana Zone: Light Magic: Heaven-Splitting Flash"!

"You're finished"!

Ryusei's spell managed to make a c***k on the arena's ground. Meanwhile, Shu managed to defend himself from the spell.

"So this is just it huh".

"What"?

Yoru managed to dodge Ryusei's attack.

What!? He managed to dodge in an instant?

"Light Magic. The fastest of all elemental magic attributes. If I am not using Mana Zone, I must have been knocked out from the impact".

"You're truly amazing, Shu. It's a rare sight to see someone dodge my Light Magic".

"The truth about its speed is truly frightening that only the dark magic can rival it".

"You don't use dark magic, how will you-"

"But that doesn't mean I can't win this match. If negation of magic attributes cannot be done, then there is one more choice. It is to win by speed".

"Shu's right. The Lightning Magic is the second fastest magic attribute after the Light Magic. Which means"... Sora said.

"It will be a battle of speed". Asahi replied.

"Hahaha! You will win by speed? You maybe a Lightning Magic user but you will never ever be able to match my-"

In an instant, Shu is at Ryusei's back.

"What? Where did he go"?

"You should be more careful from now on".

Shu kicked Ryusei away and sent him flying towards the corner of the Colosseum.

"Is that all your power, Ryusei Kato"?

*Crowd started talking*

"This is unbelievable".

"The Prince of Diamond Kingdom is being matched by a mere first-year".

"He is amazing, just like you said, Sora".

"Right? The Magic Academy will stand a chance this year if he were to participate".

"So you've come to admire his power, Asahi".

"Not gonna lie, maybe he is stronger than us".

"Ugh. What!? I puked blood? How is this happening? He is just a mere first-year and he is making me puke blood"?

"What's wrong, Prince Ryusei? Aren't you the strongest in your kingdom? You are using Mana Zone yet this is the extent of your power? I'm not even using any magic spells yet".

"Tsk, you're really fast, you've surpassed my speed. No one have ever matched my Light Magic. This is the first time. There's no reason for me to hold now anymore"!

Ryusei have raised his hand facing the clouds.

"This is the fourth time I have been forced to call her. Be honored, Shu Iwasaki"!

He is creating an array. This is not Mana Method. Summoning Magic? Wait, is he really planning to call his dragon?

"Come down from the heavens. The dragon of light that pierces through the darkness. Summoning Magic! Lend me your strength, Alina"!

"That dragon is sure big huh".

Not to mention, it is a Light Dragon which means its attacks are a threat. If I couldn't dodge any single attack, I might not just get knocked out but die instead.

Besides, if he were to use Dragon Union, I will be really in trouble. I must end this before he uses that.

"What's wrong Shu? You're quiet now, are you scared"?

"No, I'm just trying to think of a plan against your big buddy. That one might kill me".

"Rest assured. I'm not planning to kill you. I'll just defeat you here. I can't afford to lose".

"Let the real battle, begin".

"Let's go, Alina"!

The dragon have fired magic power towards Shu.

"Tsk, that is a one large scale of magic huh. It is almost on the level of the spirits. But, that is not enough to defeat me".

"Lightning Magic: Thunder God's Armor"!

"Mana Zone: Lightning Magic: Lightning Mana Union"!

The dragon is continously firing large scale of light magic power towards Shu but he is able to keep up with it. He just keeps on dodging and dodging.

"It's pretty amazing that you can still hold this much long, Shu. Your Lightning Magic is really on another level. Plus, you can also use Mana Zone. It looks like you've already mastered it a long time ago".

"It's just been months since I've recieved my grimoire".

It's amazing that this man can tell that I've mastered Mana Zone to this extent. I must end this quickly. This last spell will make the decision. If I managed to finish him with this, it will be over before he uses Dragon Union but, if I ever failed, then it's over for me.

*Flashback of yesterday's Shu visit at the Wizard King*

"Wizard King, tomorrow, I will battle against-"

"Prince Ryusei Kato of the Diamond Kingdom. You're always like this, Shu. Everytime someone get hurt, you really go out of your way to protect the innocents".

"Wizard King, what if I am forced to use my full power"?

"Rest assured, Shu. You got this. If you think you'll have to resort to use your dragon, then use it. As long as you don't use any other elemental magic attributes or any other elemental spirits".

"Wizard King".

"Well, that's all for today. Goodluck with your match tomorrow. Go and show the whole world the strength of a mage that is trained by the Wizard King".

The Wizard King believes in my strength. Master Julius believes in me! Right here, right now, I am going to surpass those limits. I will win. I will win!

"This will be the decisive spell".

Shu immediately disappeared in Ryusei's sight.

"I can't track his mana".

Suddenly, he feels a large amount of magic power gathering on the clouds.

"What is that? Red Lightning? Wait, that is, Shu"!

"Sorry if the match didn't last longer, Prince Ryusei. This is over".

"Mana Zone: Lightning Creation Magic: Thunder Dragon's Roar".

"What!? That's a dragon made with lightning magic? If it were to hit me, I, for sure, will be doomed".

The spell striked on the arena and made a big impact on the Colosseum's ground.

"Is it finished"?

"Huh? What made you think that? Do you think I'm that easy to defeat".

What? He is still standing? Don't tell me he managed to dodge my spell?

"Light Dragon Magic: Dragon Union".

He is now on Union mode. With just Thunder God's Armor, I stand no chance.

Ryusei immediately disappeared and teleported at Shu's back..

"What"?

He kicked Shu downwards and have landed on the ground with a great impact.

"I can't believe that you will force me to use my Dragon Union. I praise you, Shu. Now, let's savor this battle. It's been a long time since I've gone all out".
