Shu's spell hit Ryusei which knocked him out. The spell created thick smoke which took a few minutes before the crowd gets to see who won.
As the smoke disappeared, they saw Shu still standing while Ryusei is knocked out.

"Wait, did that kid just defeated Prince Ryusei"?
"He managed to match up with Prince Ryusei"?
"The Magic Academy this year is really different especially that kid".
"With Ryusei being knocked out, I declare Shu as the winner".
The crowd started clapping at Shu's victory against Ryusei.

"Goodluck at the Magic Competition! I'm pretty sure you'll be able to participate".
"You've won, Shu". Akari said as her tears starts to flow.
"If you've only come to this Academy earlier than us, you might've save me from this situation".

Shu collapsed on the field due to fatigue.
His classmates were in shock and immediately went to him to bring him back at the academy's infirmary.
*At the infirmary*
"H-huh? Where am I? I remember now. I passed out because of fatigue".
He looked through the window.
"So it's already nighttime".
"So you're awake now, Shu".
"Miss Yua".
"You've displayed an incredible battle. With that, you're now the chosen representative for the first years. Good work".

"Yes, the Headmaster approved it because you've managed to match the last year's Magic Competition MVP. He thinks that the academy stands a chance this year at the Magic Competition with you being there".
"So I will represent the first-years huh. I promise not to disappoint you guys. This year, I'll promise that the Magic Academy of the Clover Kingdom will be the champion of the Magic Competition".
"I'm counting on you then, get more rest first before you go back to your home. I'll prepare your dinner".

So as I thought, it's an incomplete Mana Method. This will not be troublesome if it is incomplete but, he haven't still mastered Mana Zone.

Riku immediately vanished from the field.

Shu sensed Riku's mana coming from above.

Shit, I might dodge the spell coming from the sky but his spell earlier, it's nearing me.

Shu managed to dodged Riku's spells.

"And your Flame Magic is becoming a nuisance".
His spells are becoming stronger and stronger. It's like everytime he uses a spell, his spells that are to be cast levels up. I must end this quickly.
