If I can find a way out of here then I will be free.
I have to survive. I am not supposed to be alive.
Was it not the same poison that killed Alpha Rowan? Why am I still alive?
Does the moon goddess hate me so much she refuses my dead body?
She does not want me alive and refuses me dead.
What kind of selfish goddess is she?
I walk, light in my steps as I snick past guards. Trying to find an exit. My body is weak and my movement slow.
“She looks young,” someone says. I pause and hide.
“She is not the youngest,” another voice adds.
I peer at the bunch. They must be maids.
“It is a shame, I wonder when he will call us for a change of sheets” another maid adds as they walk by.
“I never get used to the bodies. Such beauty gone to waste.”
Shhh and it is suddenly silent.
They cannot be talking about me. What do they mean by change of sheets?
A waste of beauty?
I gulp and increase my pace through hollow red walls.
The feeling the walls were painted red to hide the spilt blood of people who have died here sinks inside me. My mother died here and I refuse to let the same fate befall me.
I move through the maze halls, taller than I have ever seen. Trying to keep my breath even but I am anything but calm. The exact opposite.
How big is this place?
I walk through a door that opens up into the most beautiful garden I have ever seen. For a moment I forget where I am. Norxir tribe's is nothing compared to this. The sun is the brightest here. It must be because look how green it is.
So many flowers of different colours. Butterflies. I have never seen one back at our place. It is mostly cold. I walk into the garden to admire it.
“You are not supposed to be here” a female coice interrupts me and I jump.
My throat in my mouth at the possibility of being caught before I can escape. I turn to the stranger and she stalks me. She is lean with black hair. Her eyes are silver as if blind. I step back.
“Your destiny is powerful. I hope it is enough for you to survive,” her cryptic words make me raise a brow in confusion.
What is she talking about? She has an eerie presence as she moves closer. I glance around for anywhere I can make a break run for it but she points to a brown bush behind me. I notice has a little opening.
“Yours and his must not intertwine child or all will be lost” she says and pushes me through.
I run.
Through the dense forest, my feet thump against the dried leaves under me. The scrunching sounds make me look back.
The sun is high but the thickness of the trees makes it impossible for light to sift through.
Whatever she meant, I want no part of.
My mind goes back to my conversation with him. I will die before he has me.
My body curls with disgust as I remember how it reacted to him. I did not like as I inched closer to him with every step he took away but his voice alone did things to me I dare not admit.
The poison must be affecting my mind. That must be it.
He killed my mother.
I can hear whistles being blown and I know my absence has been noticed.
I pick up my pace, running as fast as I can. It's of no use with this body. Sweat prickles through my skin as I have short breaths. I wish I had my wolf. Then, this would not have been a problem.
I hear the thump of claws scratching the ground behind me, and I know I have been found but refuse to look. I cannot go back.
I push harder but fall with a thud as a brown wolf hits me with its claw. I clutch my arms and whimper in pain. The metallic smell of blood fills my nostrils as It drips down my hand.
It stalks me with killer instincts in its black eye. Alpha King must have told them to finish me off.
Another brown wolf joins it. This one with golden eyes. They look at each other and then at me as if talking to themselves. They must be.
These are not the guards. My eyes widen in realization.
Rogues.
“We have to kill her” a voice says and I whip my head at the brown wolf with black eyes.
Did it just say that?
I mean, did I just hear it say that?
“It is good revenge if we take his meal from him” the other replies
Wait his meal?
What are they talking about?
“Whose meal?” the question leaves my mouth without my knowing and their heads flip to face me.
“Did she hear that?”
“That is impossible”
They pounce on me and I wait for impact. Saying my last prayers to any kind being who is not the moon goddess.
It never comes. I hear a loud growl instead and when I raise my head. A big large wolf stands in front of me. It turns its head to me, and its silver eyes darken when it notices my clutched hands; it growls louder.
It lunges for the two wolves.
They are no match for it as it tears their limbs with no remorse. Shrieking sounds can be heard and It is too gruesome to watch. I close my eyes and pull myself up. I must keep going. I do not know who the black wolf is, but I might be his next meal.
The wolf growls lowly and I make a mistake to turn back. It prances on the floor ready to pounce, with me as its target this time
I run. It follows. I trip over a branch and fall. Stumbling back on my butt, dried leave scrunches as it stalks me. I must be dead this time.
“Fool” I hear it say and then in a flash I see him.
It's.. Him
He is half beast, half human.
I have never seen anything like it. I thought he was terrifying before but now, It is pllain horror.
A cold shiver runs down my spine despite the heat.
“I warned you Freya” That voice booms
I gulp at his granite sound. Croaked and scary. He punches into a tree and it breaks. I flinch.
My breathing is frantic as my eyes follow his movement. He is fast
“I told you I would not forgive any stupid act” He kicks a branch, and it flies far into the forest.
He is angry, eyes black.
“I told you your life was mine” he stalks me.
“But since you hate it that much, maybe I should just end it for you. He bares his fangs.
My eyes widen. I have not lived long, but my short life flashes before my eyes as I realise what he means.
Is this it?
When they said I was going to be his meal.
My heart beats thunderously in my chest. I hear it, the silence and in that split second, In a blur,
He lunges for me and I scream.
