Chapter 28 Leila looks as tired as I feel. Maybe she has slept for exactly the same amount as I have, which is zero minutes. She hasn’t even bothered to apply any makeup, not even her signature red lipstick. When her gaze lands on me, her eyes go moist instantly. “Can I hug you?” she asks, in stark contrast with how she left last night—for which I don’t blame her, of course. Even though I’m not sure I can handle a hug from Leila, I nod. I walk over to her and she wraps her arms around me. I bury my nose in her hair and inhale her scent.
