Author’s Note
Dear Reader,
After finishing this book, I barged into my wife’s office and pompously announced that writing A Breathless Place had fundamentally changed something in me. Being quite verbally challenged, I couldn’t express to my wife what it was that had happened to me during the writing process of this book. It was only after I sat down to write this note that I managed to explain it, to her, to myself, and now to you as well.
It was while revising A Breathless Place, while going over the very last chapters, that I realized I had some demons left to expel—that this book is so much more about me than I believed it to be.
