Chapter 3  ***Kyton's POV***      Pacing the hall in front of his room, he rubbed his temples in thought. Axel hadn't been this irritated since his mate- no. He wouldn't think of that w***e. Now even more flustered, he went to find Hazel; he hated the look of awe in her eyes when she'd seen the other Alpha. That beast. Why did Father have to choose him. There were many other territories they could've benefited from, but he had to choose the one pack with the most ruthless Alpha. Nite was well known around by the majority of packs. If you weren’t on his side, you were in his way. Kyton clenched his fists and his jawline ticked, he was not about to let his sister just be handed over like that. There was going to be hell to pay if Nite was allowed to just up and take his Hazel. Axel roared at Kyton for allowing his mind to wander to the thought of that violent wolf taking his sister for who knew what. The kitchen door swung open and he found Lyn and Hazel having a good laugh. He hated how lightly she was now taking things.       Kyton snatched Hazel and lead her from the kitchen, nearly possessively as he neared the greenhouse. He could barely think as the longer it took for him to be able to ask her what she was thinking, the harder it was going to be to control his own wolf. He grabbed the doors to the greenhouse, nearly shattering its glass handle as he yanked it open. He shoved her inside and closed the doors, his knuckles almost white from his grip. He turned to face her and yelled.      "You mind telling me what the H**L that was, Haze? One minute you're against being in this mess and the next you're practically drooling at the f****r that bought you. BOUGHT you Hazel!"        He could see in her eyes she didn't even understand her own feelings as she stammered her response. Impatiently, he bent down towards her and started to shake her by the shoulders, menacingly snarling.       "He. Is. Dangerous! Why do you think his pack was chosen? Because he picks daisies in his off time? He's a monster. Stay away from him or I'll keep you away." He shoved her aside and turned to go, the thud of her body hitting the glass horrified him and he turned to make sure he hadn't injured his beloved sister. Axel practically took over at hearing the sound, but relaxed upon seeing her stand. A small trail of blood trickled down beside her ear and he needed to leave before he could do more damage. Axel was in a mental state of panic at seeing his beloved sister injured, and at their hand no less. He stormed out and left Hazel there to leave on her own, he couldn’t let himself hurt her any further. He cursed at himself, wanting to do nothing more but slam his head against the red bricks of the corridor.        Following the hanging potted plants, Kyton made his way to the front doors of the main house once more. His eyes clouded with the thought of his sister leaving with that wolf. He stopped just before he could grasp the front door’s handle and turned on his heel. How could he just leave the house when the freak was still inside its walls. Nite was probably searching for her right now. He had to make sure that they didn’t leave together. Axel was already steaming inside his mind about all of it, but how could he stop this? He had to do something before the week was over, but what?      ***Nite's POV***      He wandered the halls with his hands in his pockets, only the echo of his boots could be heard. No matter what he did, his mind drifted back to those green eyes. He thought back to Hazel. The look of amazement on her face when he stepped into the office caused him to chuckle internally. He’d definitely never seen a woman look at him in that manner. He kind of liked it, and by the excitement felt from Volkov, his wolf did too. He stopped for a moment and roughly smacked his palm to his head. What was he doing; he needed to get her out of his mind. That thought also fell short when he heard yelling nearby. He shook his head roughly and sighed to himself in frustration when he found the source of the disagreement and his gaze fell upon the siblings, appearing to have a disagreement in the small garden. Hazel seemed as if she didn't want to be there, her face fell away from Kyton's.       The second Nite witnessed the boy put his hands on her, Volkov thrashed mentally, desperately wanting to take control and end this presently. Nite's brown eyes darkened to almost black as Kyton forced Hazel backwards into the glass. He lunged forward but stopped himself with a deep growl. He couldn't attack the Alpha’s son, especially in their own territory. Nite had to take a different approach to this. He waited for Kyton to leave, holding his wolf back with every bit of willpower he had. Opening the doors, he watched as Hazel almost bumped into him with a small gasp. God she was adorable. His eyes met with hers and everything disappeared again, that is, until he noticed the blood gently oozing down her cheek.        "Who did this." He knew, but he wanted her to know he did as well as she whimpered her defense for her brother. Clearly, he wasn’t accepting this answer; he’d seen everything. He didn’t plan on letting this go anytime soon either, the sight of her injured was almost enough for him to want to burn down the entire mansion they were in without a second thought. He only had two weapons on him and he swiftly decided one was going to her right now.         Nite reached for his spare dagger, a family heirloom and put it in her hands. He made sure his expression reflected his ultimatum; either she takes it or Kyton takes it- in the chest. He watched her snatch the knife and go to leave, but he wasn't about to let her just go again. He reached out again and took her forearm in his hand and straightened at the tingling he felt in his palm. Surprised, he let go and watched as she walked away from him. What was that he felt? Volkov purred in his head and he growled at his wolf for being such a pup over some woman they hadn’t really met. He looked around at the garden, now given the chance to. He walked around and examined all the rarities, stopping at the most beautifully plotted rose he’d seen. It wasn’t beautiful because of the color or even the pot it was planted, no. It was the sign hung around it that listed the times Hazel checked on and watered the rose. She, herself, had been growing it alone. He approached it and gently reached a hand to cup its petals. He scoffed to himself for yet again getting obsessed over Hazel and made his way back to his assigned room. He needed a hot shower.    *** Hazel’s POV***        After washing up for dinner, Lyn knocked on her door as usual, alerting her she was running behind. Hazel opened the door and hugged her best friend before walking down with her to the dining room. She smiled at her Father as she and Lyn took their seats. Lyn was allowed to eat with the family despite being a maid or Hazel would throw a fit. She glanced across the table and not only saw a new face staring back at her, but noticed Kyton was MIA. The hair of the stranger was short and blonde on one side, clearly hair color was used, and it ended longer on the other end, but black in color. Their features didn’t reflect female and they certainly didn’t reflect male. The look on their face screamed 'f**k off’ to literally everything in their line of sight.       Azazel started to pant in her head and she turned her head to the dining room door as it opened to reveal a still drying Nite. His wet hair was still slightly dripping onto his shirt as he sat down next to her. The strange guest across from her raised a brow, but Nite nodded towards them and spoke up.       “Val’kyana, this is the girl we came to purchase. Get used to her, Val.” Her heart sank as she listened to his words. So, he did just consider her a sale. Val smirked at her with a superior, almost spiteful grin. Hazel wanted so badly to hide away, or at the very least disappear. Azazel had heard it too, she let out a string of insults. She was also highly upset at being considered only a purchase by their mate. Hazel wanted to open her mouth to speak when her father leaned forward.       Thade cleared his throat and glared at Nite, but he leaned casually back against his chair with a smirk.       “Sorry, this is the WOMAN I purchased. Better?” he gave a defiant glance to her Father, who was obviously struggling to keep himself composed at the dangling of her being considered sold.       “So, when will you be leaving Nite?” Nite shot Hazel a momentary side glance, but she caught it.      “Right now,” he stated without even eating. Val stood simultaneously and headed out with their Alpha. Azazel whined inside her head as they watched their mate disappear through the doors. Wasn’t she supposed to meet with him for a few hours before he left? She sniffled to herself, not sure why she was feeling this way for a man she still hadn’t quite met and Lyn nudged her, pulling Hazel’s attention from the confusing emotions once more. She smiled and nudged her friend in return with a small snort.      Everyone powered through dinner without much speaking, the tension was heavily in the air. Lyn gathered the plates and Hazel helped clear the table for her friend’s ease in the nightly duties. After making sure Lyn was settled in and doing the dishes, Hazel headed down the darkened hall towards her room. Her father had mentioned both Val’kyana and Nite had left, she had a week left on these grounds. As her mind drifted to his face once again, a redness covered her cheeks again. Those piercing brown eyes and the way just looking at her caused her to almost melt. She barely paid attention to her own surroundings while Nite was her focus. She wasn’t prepared for the sudden ambush as someone grabbed her from behind and threw her against the wall, knocking the air from her lungs.
