The Forsaken Kingdom did not sleep.
Even after Morgana Bloodrose vanished into the crimson portal, the air remained heavy with fear. Warriors patrolled every wall, priests whispered ancient incantations, and ravens circled above the Obsidian Citadel as though sensing death on the wind.
Aurelia stood alone on the highest balcony, her fingers resting against the cold stone. The crimson moon reflected in her golden eyes, but her thoughts remained trapped in Morgana's final words.
"The Shadow Luna... the last piece of my immortality."
The words refused to leave her mind.
"You always come here when your heart is troubled."
Lucien's deep voice broke the silence.
Aurelia turned. He had changed from his battle armor into a long black coat trimmed with silver fur. Though every movement carried the authority of a king, there was a quiet gentleness in his gaze whenever he looked at her.
"I couldn't sleep," she admitted.
"I know."
He stepped beside her, both of them staring at the endless forest stretching beyond the kingdom's borders.
"For a thousand years," Lucien said softly, "I believed loneliness was my punishment."
"And now?"
He smiled faintly.
"Now I wonder if it was preparation."
Aurelia lowered her eyes.
"You barely know me."
"I know enough."
"You stood before an enemy who could have destroyed you, yet your first concern was for strangers."
He paused.
"That is the mark of a true queen."
Warmth spread through Aurelia's chest, a feeling she had not experienced since before Kael's betrayal.
Before she could answer, Lady Seraphine approached.
"My King."
"The Council is waiting."
Lucien nodded.
"There is something you must see."
Deep beneath the castle lay a chamber untouched by time.
The walls were carved from black crystal, glowing with silver veins that pulsed like living hearts. Ancient wolf statues stood in a perfect circle around an enormous stone throne.
"This," Lucien said, "is the Hall of Origins."
Aurelia stepped closer to the throne.
As her fingertips brushed its surface, the chamber erupted with silver light.
Visions flooded her mind.
She saw a magnificent kingdom beneath three moons.
Shadow Wolves walked beside Moon Wolves as equals.
Children laughed.
Queens ruled with wisdom.
Then...
Fire.
Blood.
Screams.
An army clothed in white descended from the heavens.
The Moon Goddess stood at their head, her radiant face filled not with mercy, but with judgment.
Behind her, Nyxara fought alone against countless enemies, refusing to kneel.
The vision ended with the Shadow Queen sealing herself away beneath a mountain of darkness.
Aurelia staggered backward, breathing hard.
"That wasn't a legend..."
Lucien's expression remained solemn.
"It was history."
"The Moon Goddess started the war?"
"Not all stories are told truthfully."
Aurelia looked at him in disbelief.
"Then why erase the Shadow Kingdom?"
"Because victors write history."
The weight of his words settled over the chamber.
Everything Aurelia had believed about the world suddenly felt uncertain.
Far away, in Bloodfang Kingdom...
Kael Blackwood stood inside Aurelia's abandoned chambers.
Nothing had changed.
Her favorite books remained on the shelves.
A pressed moonflower still rested between the pages of a journal.
He opened it with trembling hands.
Inside, Aurelia had written:
"A Luna's strength is measured not by the crown she wears, but by the hearts she protects."
Kael closed the journal, grief tightening around his chest.
A guard burst into the room.
"My Alpha!"
"We found something."
Minutes later, Kael stood before the royal healer.
On the table lay the silver dagger used during Aurelia's execution.
The healer bowed.
"Your Majesty..."
"There was no Luna blood on the blade."
Kael's eyes widened.
"Impossible."
"There was another magic at work."
Cold realization spread across his face.
"If she never truly died..."
His wolf roared inside him.
Find her.
Meanwhile, beneath the Obsidian Citadel, Aurelia continued exploring the Hall of Origins.
In the center of the room rested a crystal pedestal.
Upon it lay an elegant silver crown adorned with black gemstones.
"The Crown of Shadows," Seraphine whispered.
"It has rejected every ruler for a thousand years."
Lucien looked toward Aurelia.
"It has been waiting."
As though pulled by an invisible force, Aurelia reached toward the crown.
The moment she touched it, darkness exploded through the chamber.
Shadow flames spiraled around her body.
The crown lifted into the air before gently settling upon her head.
Golden light burst from her eyes.
Outside the castle, every wolf in the Forsaken Kingdom instinctively dropped to one knee.
Even the wind seemed to pause.
A powerful voice echoed through the skies.
"The Shadow Queen has chosen her heir."
The mountains trembled.
Across distant kingdoms, ancient relics awakened.
Hidden enemies opened long-sealed vaults.
The prophecy had entered its final chapter.
Aurelia slowly opened her eyes.
She could hear whispers carried by the wind.
Feel every heartbeat within the kingdom.
Sense darkness itself answering her call.
Lucien stepped forward, unable to hide the awe in his expression.
"You are no longer merely the Shadow Luna."
"You are the rightful Queen of the Forsaken Kingdom."
Before Aurelia could respond, the crystal floor cracked beneath their feet.
A thunderous roar echoed from far below the castle.
Not human.
Not wolf.
Something far older.
Something imprisoned.
The chamber shook violently.
A crimson symbol ignited across the floor.
Seraphine's face turned pale.
"My King..."
"The Eternal Prison..."
Lucien's expression darkened.
"No..."
"It cannot be breaking already."
Another deafening roar shook the underground halls.
Then a chilling voice echoed from the darkness below.
"At last... the Queen has returned."
Aurelia felt a cold shiver race down her spine.
Whatever lay imprisoned beneath the Obsidian Throne...
It knew her name.
