Chapter 4

*** Mia’s POV *** * I woke up in the morning with a groan, since today was the first day of school and I was really not in the mood for that. It was the first day of my period and I was a bit grumpy because of the cramps. I walked into the bathroom for my morning routine, but before that, I looked out of my window towards his. I saw him sitting on his bed a few days ago and I think he saw me too, because since then, his curtain has been closed. I think he was peeping at me sometimes because I saw the curtain move the other day. What a creepy p*****t. I left my curtains open on purpose to tease him, but I was not going to walk naked in front of him if he was waiting for that. When I finished in the bathroom, I went into the walk-in closet to choose the perfect outfit for my first day. I wanted to dress to impress. We went to the mall with mom two days ago, so I had a lot of nice clothes. I chose black jean shorts with a black top. I looked badass and I wore my new black and white Nike sneakers to make my outfit perfect. Black looked good with my tanned skin and I let my hair down, which reached to my lower back. I wore a lot of silver jewellery because I got it from my father and I never took it off. When I was ready, I walked downstairs to have some breakfast and pack some food for later just in case. Mom had already left early in the morning, so it was just me. She bought a bike for me to go to school with, since the school was just 10 minutes away from here by car, so that was like 20-25 minutes with a bike. School starts at 8 and now it was 7:30, so I grabbed my backpack and closed the door behind me. “What the hell?” I murmured when I saw the tyres were flat on my new bike, both of them. They were still good yesterday. 'What happened to them over the night?' I thought and leaned down to take a closer look. I saw marks on them, it looked like someone did this on purpose with a knife or something. Who could have done this? I was sure that jerk was from the neighbour. I looked at his window and the curtains moved again. Of course it was him and he was watching my reaction. I burst out laughing at his childishness and walked back inside. We had a red Camaro in the garage. Actually, it was my father’s baby, so we didn’t want to sell it. I used it sometimes back in New York, but people can’t drive there, let alone park, so I didn’t use it so much. I was worried that someone would scratch it. I was not 18 yet, but I had my driving license already, so I could drive. I grabbed the keys and went into the garage. I still had 20 minutes to get to school and pick up my timetable before the first class started. I drove out of the garage and I saw that blue car which was parked in the front of the neighbour's house before, wasn't there anymore. I guess that was his car. I headed towards school and since I drove faster than I should, I made it in 8 minutes. I found an empty spot so I parked my car without a problem. I grabbed my backpack and got out of the car. A lot of students were still hanging out outside and I noticed half of them were looking at me and my car, but someone caught my attention the most. There he was in the front of the school with his friends, he was gaping at me and I just smirked. ‘Your plan didn’t work out, jerk. Try harder.’ I thought to myself and walked into the school with my head held high, ignoring the looks that I still felt on my body. I still had time, so I asked a girl where I could find the office to get my timetable. My first class was Math, so I walked in the corridor to look for the classroom. When I found it, the teacher had just arrived at the door. “Hey, are you the new student?” she asked and looked down at her notes. “Mia, right?” “Yes ma’am.” I answered politely. “I am Mrs. Morris and I will be your math teacher. Come and take a seat, but first please introduce yourself to the class.” Mrs. Morris said with a smile, and walked into the classroom. She seemed nice. I followed her inside. “Okay” I said and turned to the students. “Hi everyone, my name is Mia Banks and I just moved here from New York a week ago.” I said with a smile. “Hello Mia,” they said in unison. I looked around and there were two seats empty, but when I saw who was sitting next to one of them, I went to the other empty seat without hesitation. 'I can’t believe that we have this class together.' I sat down without paying attention to anyone, but I felt his eyes on me, not only his, but half of the class were staring at me. I gave them a ‘can I help you’ look and all of them turned back to the front, except him, my new neighbour and now classmate. ‘Great’ “Mia, do you like Los Angeles so far?” Mrs. Morris asked me with a warm smile and all the students turned to me again. I had never really liked too much attention, I preferred to be invisible. “Yes, everybody is nice and kind so far, except that grumpy and creepy guy from the neighbour.” I said with a laugh and everyone started laughing. I didn’t look at him, but I felt his eyes on me. I think he was angry, which just made me giggle. “Okay, class we will start with...” Mrs. Morris started the lesson and I just ignored that jerk the whole time. * *** Ryan’s POV *** (earlier in the front of the school) * “Did you seriously ruin her tyres on her bike?” Tyler asked in disbelief while laughing like crazy. “She will be late on her first day, it was a good one, Ry.” Dom said in amusement and patted my back. “She almost saw me watching her from the window. I wanted to see her reaction. I think she knows that it was me.” I said with a wide, proud smile, but it froze on my face when I saw a red Camaro arrive in the parking lot and that girl got out of it. ‘What a f*ck?’ She was always one step ahead of me somehow, I didn’t even know that they had a car and what a car was that, my favourite model. She walked confidently towards the school and our eyes met, she just smirked and walked inside proudly. “It looks like your plan didn’t work out buddy,” Dom said. “She is hot. Why don’t you try to get her instead, before someone else does.” He said, and we walked to our classes. Math was my first class and I went to sit in my usual seat in the back. No one was sitting next to me because I always scared them away. Then, to my joy, she walked in with Mrs. Morris. “Hi everyone, my name is Mia Banks and I just moved here from New York a week ago.” Mia, of course, her name was Mia and she was from New York. I couldn’t have guessed it. She was gorgeous when she smiled genuinely. She looked at the seat next to me and then at me. She just rolled her eyes and went to the other empty seat. I smirked to myself and watched her every move. Mrs. Morris asked her something I didn’t catch. I was too busy staring at her, but her answer surprised me and made me angry. “Yes, everybody is nice and kind so far, except that grumpy and creepy guy from the neighbour.” She said laughingly and the class burst out laughing too. She was funny. I would have laughed too if that neighbour weren't me. I glared at her but she just ignored me. I almost wanted to make peace with her, almost. She will regret messing with me. Insolent little girl. The bell rang finally and I knew what my next move would be. Let’s see how she will handle that. * *** Mia’s POV *** * The day went fast and it was lunchtime already. Since the weather was nice and I had my own lunch, I decided to eat outside. I walked to a tree and sat down under it. Luckily, I didn’t have more classes with that guy. I didn’t even know his name. I took my lunch out of my bag and started to eat while reading my book. “Mia.” Someone said my name from behind. I turned around to see that jerk. I automatically rolled my eyes at him. “What do you want?” I asked him and turned my attention back to my book. “Since I know your name now, it’s only fair if you know mine, I am Ryan,” he said. I didn't look at him, but I knew he was smirking. “So what do you want....Ryan?” I asked him, still looking at my book. At least, I didn’t need to address him as ‘that guy’ or 'that jerk' anymore, even though the last one was fitting. “Ryan” an annoying voice shouted from the school entrance before he could answer, and I saw a blonde girl walking towards Ryan, like Barbie on the catwalk. “I was waiting for you in the cafeteria. What are you doing outside?” She asked him. She was beautiful, but she was wearing a too short miniskirt and a too short top, too little clothes if you ask me, and too much make-up. “It’s not your business, Bianca,” Ryan told her rudely. “Don’t be like that, baby. You know we always have fun together.” She purred in his ear in a low voice, but I still heard it. She put her arms around his neck. That was my clue to leave them alone, so I grabbed my things and walked away. “Mia, wait.” Ryan called after me, but I didn’t stop walking. “Where are you going?” He asked when he caught up to me and I heard the girl protesting behind us. “It’s none of your business. By the way, you owe me two new tyres for my bike.” I told him and left him there speechless. Rude? I know, but he deserved it. I wouldn’t be kind to him till he said a proper apology for everything that he had done to me.
