Chapter 20

“I’m glad it will be helpful, I’ll have to talk to Fenrir more about how it works.” Philip nods and turns to Gregory.  “After everything that happened the other night, I hope you’re getting closer to finding our evidence.” You sit up a little straighter.  “Evidence?”                                                                           Gregory raises an eyebrow over at Philip and without a word between them, Philip simply nods his head, motioning his arm to you.  “As the mate of the Beta, and since the situation is turning into more of a life and death clash; you should know why we are here at your company.”  Gregory pulls files out from his locked desk drawer and begins to spread them out on the desk.  You and Philip move your chairs closer to look at what he’s showing you. “Lycan Construction has several subsidiary companies in which we own the controlling shares.  We receive monthly financials on each of them, several are coming from your company.” After reading the property name on the spreadsheet you look up at him  “We do their finances.”  You look between the two of them, “You don’t suspect us of siphoning money do you?” They share a glance and than Gregory continues.  “At first…yes.  It would make sense, you are the accounting firm.  It's a simple thing of taking a debit, making several false credits with a few false journal entries and the money is put in your pocket.”  As you open your mouth to refute his claims he holds his hand up to stop you, then places it on top of yours. “I know.  The first day I was here I removed your firm from suspicion.  I was watching you at the filing cabinets.  Your company keeps an abhorrent amount of paper back ups but with that waste, I’ve caught our culprit.  Every change you've made to a journal entry is written on a first draft and filed with the final.  At this point it's simply tracing back to see how far it really goes.  Then how much has been embezzled.” You begin eyeing the reports and notations he’s already made.  “Give me a minute,” you say as you get up and leave his office. Philip looks at Gregory questioningly, “Bathroom break?”  Gregory looks over annoyed.  He just shrugs, “What?  I don’t have a woman yet, I don’t know how they think or what they actually do!” You come back in the room with a journal binder from four years ago.  “Here,” you say as you place the binder down in front of them.  “They used to be my account and after I saw what you’re looking at I remembered when it happened because it was odd and  I questioned it.   I even notated it on the financial.  It just took me a minute to find which month it was.” Gregory’s eyes alight and he immediately stands up, grabs your shoulders and pulls you in for a big kiss.  When he pulls away his smile is HUGE and he leans over and does a bro handshake with Philip.   He turns back to you. “I thank the Goddess for you every day love!  This would have taken me forever!  Four years!”  And with that he kisses you again. You can hear Philip across the desk chime in.  “Hey I’m ecstatic about this too, do I get one of those?” Gregory laughs, “SURE”.  He reaches across the desk and  gives Philip a big, wet sloppy kiss.  Philip’s eyes go wide and he immediately pushes Gregory away.  Honestly were shocked at first but Philip’s reaction is so over the top that you can’t help but laugh.  Philip has taken his pocket square handkerchief out and is viciously wiping at his mouth.  Occasionally you hear him sputter and spit. “What the hell is wrong with you?” “Are you crazy?” “GROSS!” At the last comment Gregory winks at you and throws an arm around your shoulders.  “Well, I’m sorry if you don’t have a liking for my kisses but I’ve heard no complaints from my woman.”  With that you turn his face to you and kiss his soundly.  You than respond, “Yep, no complaints.” Philip is giving the two of you the evil eye.  “I meant a kiss from your woman you behemoth!  Why would you think I wanted a kiss from the likes of you?” Chuckling Gregory leans across the desk to get closer to Philips face, then turns serious.  “Because Alpha, I don’t share.   You kiss me or get your own mate.” Philip begins to pout, “Seriously, you are becoming so disrespectful these days.  How long have we been friends, companions, business partners?” “Long enough for me to protect my woman from the likes of you. I know you better.  Be happy that I even let you close enough to kiss her hand.”  He reaches down and takes a big swig of water. then clears his throat.  “Nope, still there.  As it is I may have to spend the rest of my night kissing this beautiful  woman to just get the taste of you out of my mouth!” “My taste?!  Why you…” You step between the feuding friends by placing a hand on each of their chests and separating them.  “Really guys?  I love a good show just like anyone but I know you two love each other.  I’ve seen your bromance.  So, can we get back to the audits and job at hand?” Philip winks at you and sits back down in his chair.  You push Gregory back into his and untangle yourself from his wandering hands to get back to your seat.  “I can show you were to collect the financials that you need from that far back.  They can’t leave the office so you’ll have to use the copy machine for copies to mark up, keep as evidence, etc.  If you’ll photo copy them during the day here at the office I can go through them with you in the evenings.  That way you can have one of the clerks pull the paid bills for you once we know the exact ones. You’ll have to make copies of those too.” He nods at your words and then looks up.  “In the evenings?  Every evening?” You nod, “Yes.”  You look over at Philip, “Didn’t you say time is of the essence now?  I take it they’ve figured out that you’re auditing them and afraid they'll get caught?” “That’s what we're assuming due to the attack at the site the other night." Philip states. Gregory interrupts, "However, I’ve been extra careful while here to pull all of the different companies' files so that not just one was focused on.  I don’t know if they have anyone working here but with the tension being this high for a simple audit, I’m growing concerned.” Philip nods, “Agreed.  Your help would be most beneficial and appreciated Sam.  Thank you.” As the three of you walk out of Gregory’s office, you say goodbye to Philip and head to the storage room .  You begin pulling boxes down from shelves and he looks around at all of them for the past four years.  He begins to pout.  “Every evening?” he says in your ear from behind you, his hands snaking around your waist.  You slip from his grip and turn to face him.  Pointing to the door you say, “Not locked during business hours and this room has many visitors a day.”  You point to his hands, then his lips.  “Those are not to wander but stay with you at all times.  Philip was right that you’re becoming a little too grabby.  We’re going to get caught.”  He smiles seductively and backs you up into the filing cabinet, “I don’t have a problem getting caught.  I’m just happy that I've finally found you.  I could shout it from the rooftops…however, to get there I’d have to change and then no one would really understand me because it would just be howls.” You look at him like he's lost it.  You ask, “Does your train of thought have multiple side rails and switches?  Like more than normal?” He pretends to think about it than knocks his fist on his head.  “You forget I have multiple lines with switches and side rails.  Two minds one body remember?  And both of those minds totally enjoy spending their evenings with you, doing far more interesting things than summing up numbers.” “Oh really?  Now whose emotions are all over the place and distracting?” He smiles, trying to get closer again.  “My emotions may be distracted but my hormones have only one thing on their mind.”  You look at your watch, “Well, I hate to tell your hormones, but they have another four hours before the boss says I can go home.’ You hear a whimper and you narrow your eyes at him.  “Don’t look at me?  Fenrir wanted to play too.” You take a step back, “What?  He knows I don’t play that way.” He feigns shock, “Woman what naughty, nasty thoughts are you having?  He would never even consider and I wouldn’t let him.  Well, not in wolf form anyway.” You rest your forearm on a filing cabinet, slapping down the report you were holding.  “Excuse me?”  You start backing him up towards the door.  “He said last night that he was ‘there’ while you were recouping in bed.  Are you telling me that  it’s not you all the time?  Are the two of you trading places on me without my knowledge?  Because I am NOT okay with that!” “Bad joke, I’m sorry…babe,” you’re glaring at him so he cups your face with his hands trying to relax you.   “It can happen but it hasn’t with us yet.”  As you try to pull away he forces your chin up so that you are looking into his eyes.  “You have to remember, you are “our” mate and he doesn’t have a female wolf, just you.  I know it sounds weird but just put it in the back of your mind for a possible “threesome” in the future.  Okay?” “Far into the future,” you reply.  “I love Fenrir but not in that way.  That thought will take some time to process.  Meanwhile, you should get started copying those files for tonight.” He sighs dejectedly, “You’re really going to make me sit up all night and add up numbers?” You turn back as you head out the door.  “I don’t understand what your problem is.  Sitting, standing, lying down; you’re quite good with adding numbers together.”   You wink over your shoulder as you shut the door, “After all, adding one and one makes a very happy two.”
