I left work Thursday afternoon later than I’d hoped. I wanted to get home and spend some time with Paul before my date with Patrick, but Mayor Levine called to confirm the upcoming events for the town. I marked all the ones I told him about so I could double check with the vendors and reiterate that no one outside my office would be making changes. All of that made me late leaving work.
I rushed inside and hurried to my room. I considered changing, but I didn’t have time. I left my computer bag on my bed and went back to the living room where Paul was watching TV.
“Are you done with homework already?”
“Yeah. Teachers aren’t giving us anything new. It’s all just review for exams.”
“Are you ready for exams?”
He snorted. “Yeah. I was ready for exams a month ago.”
