I walked into the office and looked around. It was quiet. Too quiet. An eerie quiet that set me on edge and made me wonder what was going on.
Goldie’s office was still dark, which meant her meeting with the mayor wasn’t over yet. Good. She would be happy when I talked to her and told her about my morning. But first, she needed to show up.
I logged into my computer and went through my morning routine of checking emails and reaching out to the vendors on my list. We had another quiet weekend coming up, but obviously quiet weekends were not as quiet as we’d hoped, so I was still going to check with everyone involved.
