The Scarred Girl VI

811 Words
The next morning when I woke up, Forest was still asleep. I couldn’t shove the image of her scars off my head. Seeing those scars all over her arms made me wonder what life she actually had. I stared at her crunching my forehead in curiosity. I couldn’t picture any scenarios as to how she got them. I could only imagine hurting herself, or from street fights. I wonder if that could be the reason behind her bruises. I have never seen her fight with her fists before so I had my doubts. She seemed to be the type who would provoke someone using her words. It was highly unlikely she would get herself involved with physical fights. Seeing these scars made me second guessing. I sighed. I never felt this heavy hearted in the early morning. She just keeps surprising me every time I think there was nothing left to know of her, she comes back at me with more information I never thought she ever was. “What else do I need to know about you, Forest Young?” I mumbled to myself, resting my cheeks over the back of my palms as I stared at her sound asleep. When she made a subtle movement, I backed away from the bed, crouching away in anticipation as I waited for her to regain her consciousness. I reckon she’d even remember everything she did last night. She was too wasted. Her eyes slowly opened and she frowned when the sun hits her face. She made a small groan as she shifted her weight to the side. Her head turned lightly to one side. When she turned her head to me, her brows immediately creased. Her glare alone made me flinch. She looked at herself before turning her head into different directions until she spaced out, and aggressively turned back to me with an unamused glare. “G-Good morning.” I greeted nervously. She couldn’t look at me in the eyes. She jumped off my bed without a word and walked straight to her jacket, wearing it back on her body. She turned away from me as she puts them back on. She then bent down to wear her shoes and when she did, she was ready to leave without another word. “I-I made breakfast. You don’t have to leave so soon.” I assured her. I was just worried, she was going to head out and not eat anything for the rest of the day. She looked at me, her face stiff. “Are you happy now?” she suddenly asked. “Are you happy you got to see what I hide?” Her jaws tightened as she spoke. I shook my head unable to look into her eyes. “I didn’t mean to—” “Well now that you know, I hope you f*****g leave me alone now.” She rolled her eyes before she walked out of my bedroom door. “Forest, wait.” I ran after her and she stopped halfway out of my unit upon my calling. She doesn’t turn to me though. “If you’re thinking that I’m gonna judge you for whatever you’re hiding, then you’re wrong.” I said, shaking my head as if she was going to see me. “I go through things, you go through things. That’s normal. That’s not something anyone should be hiding, nor is it something to be judged for.” Forest finally turned to me, gritting her teeth as she glared back at me. “Is that everything you do?” Everything that I do? “Sticking your nose onto people’s lives? Don’t you have a life of your own to worry about?” I blinked at her question. I thought everything was going well between us then this happens. I wouldn’t deny that I did something wrong on my part, But her reaction confirms that there was something deeper within the façade she projects on the outside. “I just happened to bump into you yesterday. I couldn’t leave you like that in the street? Any decent human wouldn’t leave someone they know out in an alley, drunk and unconscious.” She didn’t reply. She was too smart to know that what I said was logical. “What about you, Forest?” I asked in a gentle tone. I wasn’t trying to provoke her, or insult her, or judge her in any way. I was genuinely worried for her and the state she was in without being drunk. “When are you going to accept that it’s okay to let people in your life?” She turned away from me again, mumbling, “The next time you see me in a situation like that, just leave me be and don’t get yourself involved with me ever again,” before she left and walked away.
