Amelia woke up to a strange soft breathing, her mind was foggy at staring at the white ceiling. Is this heaven? Did she die? She would be glad if she did but why was every part of her body felt like a log of wood? Her eyes moved to her hand which was bound in a white bandage the same as the other, and she grimaced cursing Zoe in her head.
Her body became hot, it wasn't her sickness. She glanced around and her eyes widened realizing King was watching her all while. He stood at the foot of the bed in his white robe, his hair tousled like he had tossed his hands in it a thousand times.
His eyes darkened while glancing at every inch of her body, they became softening but when he blinked they were gone. She'd said that was pity on his face but Alpha King wasn't capable of doing that.
"Alpha King," She grimaced at her voice which had become deep hoarse because of her unconsciousness.
Alpha King moved away from the bed and walked elegantly to her side. "How are you feeling?"
Amelia paused, arching her brow. Is her brain malfunctioning due to injuries now?
"You should take care of yourself." He held her gaze for some seconds, they were cloudy full of questions and something_is it pity or anger? She waited patiently for the storm but nothing came. He pulled his gaze away with a low sigh that vibrated through her body.
"Hazel will be in charge of your health now." He announced and Amelia nodded, the action causing a wince from her.
"Use your words, Amelia! Don't stress the wounds." He snapped, his eyes roaming through her bandaged neck
"I…sorry," Amelia muttered, loss of words. Did Alpha King just care about her? His eyes held anger when he stared at her bandaged body like he would rip someone off. Who could that be? Is it her? Did she do something again?
He turned ready to leave her room and a sad feeling overwhelmed her. She wanted his presence, he was cold but slowly she was accepting his coldness. That was who he was, a man of short words.
"Thank you." She muttered. "Thank you for everything."
He paused but didn't turn to her, his shoulders rigid and Amelia wondered if she said something off.
"Just stay out of trouble if you want to thank me."
"Won't you say something, you had questions about what happened? Ask me, express your anger at me."
King chuckled, a dark one that vibrated through her body. He turned to her, and surprisingly his eyes were calm in contrast to his cold demeanor. "I have questions, a lot of them as you say but can you answer them now without turning this room into a crying mess? Causing another headache for me."
His words punched Amelia's heart, Alpha King had always been cruel with his words but it hurt every time he delivered them without a filter. Crying mess? Her eyes stung at that but she swallowed the feeling.
"Crying doesn't make me weak!" She said firmly, shifting her head on the pillow to have a good vision of him. "People express their feelings differently, you don't tell people not to cry because it annoys you, gives you headaches and all. It's not good."
Alpha King arched his brow, his lips curled up in amusement, crossing his arms over his chest. "Really Amelia? Well, I don't care if it's good or not. The crying was annoying, held it in and behaved like a mature woman. Some people have it worse than you Amelia and they didn't become a mess. I'm still coming back with questions and you better be ready not to cry." He punctuated each word with a glare, his voice getting harsher at each word.
Saying her names had always affected her but today it irritated her and made her stomach coiled in disgust. The truth in his words made it hurt but he had no right to tell her how to handle her problem. How to grieve?
She bit back the response in her and closed her eyes briefly, snapped them open, and stared into his beautiful gray eyes.
"You know I had a dream when I was unconscious, you held me close, grabbed my hand, and told me it's going to be okay. " There was a slight horror in his eyes at her words but she continued even when she knew her revelation annoyed him. "You said to let everything out, it's okay to cry. You said all these while holding me close." She exhaled deeply, closing her eyes before opening them, and looked at her softly. "Why can't you be like the man of my dreams?"
"Because he was never alive." He said without waiting a beat. "And he is never coming to this life." He added coldly and snapped the door open before storming out.
That was it! She said what she was holding back and that was exactly the response she was expecting. It hurts! Her chest was being smacked repeatedly by his words. Alpha King had it worse than her so what? She shouldn't grieve anymore, about her lost title, about her father, about her lost freedom and now his mistress wanted to kill her.
Tears poured from her eyes even when she wanted to hold them in, to grieve without crying but it didn't work so she let them out. "Please just give me my wolf moon goddess or whoever is in charge of it!" She was tired, she needed the strength of her wolf.
Oh, how she would have torn Zoe into pieces for touching her if she had had her wolf. She couldn't wait anymore, it was getting late and her hope ran thin now.
The door was thrown open revealing Bella and Hazel rushing to her side. "Amelia," Hazel half-yelled, her face twisted with a sad smile as she ran her hands through her hair.
Bella stood by a corner watching them with a wide smile, her eyes were full of happiness.
"Thank you for coming back." Hazel placed a kiss on her forehead and Amelia stiffened for a second before releasing a smile, inhaling her sweet lavender body wash. She missed Hazel so much.
"I should thank you for staying by my side," Amelia said when Hazel pulled away.
Hazel waved her away with a warning smile. "I did nothing. I should have been around, Zoe will regret it if I was around." She hissed but shrugged. "It's not too late, I will add my punishment after Alpha King's done with his."
"Alpha King's punishment?" Amelia repeated and Hazel grinned.
"Yes, I love the look on her face when she is being whipped." She giggled staring at space for a while, she blinked and stared at Amelia's bandage and her grin wiped off. "I should get the doctor to change these bandages so you could move freely, lying down must have been tiring."
Amelia nodded. "It is very tiring."
Hazel pouted sadly and shook her head muttering how she would make Zoe unbearable. "I'm coming, Halo needs me."
Amelia smiled at the mention of Halo. "Okay. Extend my greeting to her, I wish I could see her."
"You will. Just get better first." She assured her with a smile, she blew her kisses before walking out.
