"You can not harm my daughter, Alpha King," King turned back at the command, his brow arched up with amusement.
"Watch me." He leveled his gaze with him and Alpha Johnson's shoulders slumped.
He stepped into the dungeon, his shoulders shook with subtle anger. "Can't you warn her about this? She won't try it anymore."
His audacity made King arch his brow, just because he was soft while dealing with the alpha council, they were starting to disrespect him. He closed the distance between them and glared down at Alpha Johnson. "You being here is disrespectful alone but I will leave that. Have you forgotten the gravity of what your daughter did?" He placed his hand on his shoulder and squeezed tightly. Alpha Johnson gritted his teeth swallowing the pain.
"She should have been dead by now according to the rules." He lifted his jaw and stared coldly into his eyes. "Next time you try to disobey me, you won't be alive to witness the consequences."
A sharp cry filled the room after his threat, he glanced back at Zoe and smirked. "Get to work." He snapped at the guards before stepping out. Alpha Johnson barked at the guards to leave his daughter alone while Zoe bawled her eyes out.
He didn't spare them a glance, he might change his mind and kill them both if he turned. He ran his hand through his hair in anger, he needed to punish Alpha Johnson for his disobedience, but he was an elder. He smirked knowing Zoe would pay for her father's action.
Lopez approached him in the hallway and he remembered the order he had given him earlier. "Where have you been?" He snapped. "What were you doing when Alpha Johnson came to the dungeon?"
"I'm sorry Alpha King," He bowed and King shook his head with a hiss. Lopez wasn't like this so he would just let it slide.
"Speak." He said walking past him.
Lopez raised his head and trailed behind King. "Hazel mindlinked me on my way to the dungeon that Amelia started jerking on the bed screaming like she was being chased. It was hard to get her to calm down."
King's shoulders tensed for barely seconds before his shoulders returned to their normal state.
"She is okay now though ready to accept visitors." Lopez continued
"I don't need any information about her Lopez," His voice was curt dismissing the topics.
Lopez paused confused but knew better than to push the matter. "Yes, your Majesty." He pushed the door to the study room open, the room was enveloped in darkness and he quickly flipped the light on illuminating the room.
"Have the men confessed?" King asked, walking to the desk, he pulled the drawer open and shook his head at the piles of files waiting for him.
"No Alpha King, but I'm still working on that. I don't know why they are adamant about not confessing." Lopez said, frustrated as he ran his hand through his hair.
King brought out a file and opened it. "They will." He promised. "When I'm done with them, they will tell me who introduced them to money laundering and what the money is supposed to be used for." He said calmly, reading through the file. He snapped it closed and pushed it further on the desk.
Why was Amelia everywhere? He was trying to immerse himself in work just to forget that a blue-eyed lady was somewhere yet the first file was about her. He didn't understand why the elders wanted her to be introduced to them badly.
He stood up adjusting his mask. "Let's visit our prisoners."
…
"The questions are simple, who owns the money and where are you taking it to?" Lopez thundered, slapping the man.
The man spat out blood and gazed at him under blurry eyes. "I'm not saying a thing."
King crossed his arms over his chest staring at the man Lopez was dealing with, his hands were tied to the ceiling with his toes barely touching the ground. There were several cuts on his body, unhealed scars, and dry blood on his torso. Blood trailing down his head from a cut.
The two men in the room weren't different from him, they were silent breathing heavily while they let their boss do the talking. He stood away from the wall tired of the back and front.
"Have them turn upside down Lopez, and submerge their heads in the hot water till they are ready to talk."
"Wh…what?" One of them stammered gaping at King with wide eyes.
"Yes Alpha King," Lopez affirmed stepping out.
Alpha King returned to the wall where he was enveloped with darkness once again, the light in the room only brightened the side they were hung to, giving him access to witness their fears.
But their leader portrayed no fear, gritting his teeth in anger. He must definitely know something and King was ready to break him.
Some guards soon rolled in three drums and placed them in the middle of the room, and in no time it was filled up and the men were turned upside down over the drum.
Their screams filled the room in no time but he ordered Lopez to continue the torture. He will leave no stone untouched this time. During the last attack in the palace, he got a sniff of some werewolves engaging in money laundering and dismissed it. It was three days after that the palace was attacked. He wouldn't allow that to happen the second time.
"I…I will talk." King directs his gaze to the man drenched in water, his skin so hot that they're starting to peel. "I will say what I know."
"And that is?"
The man glanced around erratically, finding the direction of the voice but he groaned, giving up when he wasn't successful.
"The money will be used to buy angel dust, silver blades, and wolfsbane."
King fisted his hands beside him. He hated that his intuition was right, it would have been a disaster if he hadn't seized the money.
PCP or Angel dust was a hard drug used in the human world, some greedy werewolves sneaked it into their world for the first time and it was a disaster. The werewolves couldn't control their wolves whenever they took it, they would harm anything in their way and they only listened to the one who promised them the drugs. Some became stuck in their wolf form and went on a killing rampage.
Some people are planning to destroy years of his hard work again.
He glanced at the man who just confessed, he looked frightened, hating himself for talking. The leader glared at him, heightening his fear.
He stepped out of the darkness and all eyes turned to him. He turned to Lopez. "He has been a good boy, stop his punishment for three days." He pointed at the man whose face lit up in joy.
"Yes Alpha King," Lopez smirked, loving the idea.
"Let's go," King said, moving elegantly out of the room. Lopez nodded following him out.
"The rest will also confess after seeing this," Lopez said, proudly while cleaning the blood stain on his hand.
"We need the confession quickly, otherwise it will lead to trouble." He hissed and inhaled sharply. How was my father handling the confinement, Lopez?"
Lopez laughed, easing from the tension he had earlier. "Badly. He yelled at the soldiers guarding his gate to let him out almost every day."
King sneered. "He should get used to it."
One lady started speeding toward them far from the hallway oblivious to their presence until she was close enough. She paused, dropping to her knees immediately.
King squinted his eyes, trying to remember where he saw her.
"What is Bella?" Lopez asked, annoyed.
Then it clicked, she was the maid Amelia rescued. He had questioned her to ask about the assault issue, she claimed that would be the second time and he was livid about that. How could something that big be happening in his palace and he knew nothing about it? The guards and maids matter wasn't his issue but now, he had made sure he was involved in it.
Then he remembered clearly putting the maids with Amelia, and she being here meant something was going on with her.
The maid fidgeted her clothes. "I'm sorry for disrupting your peace my Alpha." She swallowed, staring at the floor. "Beta Lopez said to inform him immediately Luna Amelia is awake and doing fine."
King angled his brow. "She is awake?"
