King's story

Masked 19 Amelia's POV Her gait was fast as she rushed to her room, not glancing back until she got to her room. She bolted in, slamming her back on the door and sliding to the floor. Her heart raced like a wild horse, she palmed her face breathing in and out. What was she thinking? Amelia, what was going on in that little head of yours? She saw how his eyes flashed with fury, he was angry at her audacity. She should have left when he managed to accept the cookies from her. She doubted if he would even eat it after this. She jerked her head up when someone touched her, her eyes widened seeing Bella crouched before her, staring at her softly. "How are you here?" She asked, blinking twice to be sure she wasn't seeing things. Bella helped Amelia up from the floor and walked them to the bed. "I was waiting for you in the room, I was worried when you didn't acknowledge my greeting. Are you okay?" Amelia sighed, pushing her hair back and wrapping it in a messy bun. "I am." She muttered softly then stared at Bella, "When did you start working here?" Bella zoned out itching the lower back of her head for a while before shaking her head. "I can't remember but I was sure I was here before the death of Luna Lilliana." Her eyes widened in fear after mentioning the name, she glanced around fretfully, palming her mouth. "I'm sorry for blabbing too much." "No." Amelia shook her head with a reassuring smile. "Tell me everything you know about her death and Alpha King's behavior then." Bella opened her mouth in shock. "That's a forbidden topic my Luna, Alpha King would kill me if he overheard me." Amelia sighed knowing this would be hard, but no matter how hard it was. She would force the answer out of Bella. She grabbed Bella's trembling hand and pulled her closer, Bella blinked at her in fear but Amelia didn't release her hands. She made Bella sit beside her and fixed her gaze on her, softly and calmly. "Tell me Bella, no one is going to hear from you nor from me. I promise you that." She caressed her hands gently and blinked innocently at her, tears at the brim of her eyes. "Did you like seeing me crying every day?" Bella shook her sideways. "I don't want you to cry anymore my Luna. I will say all I know." "Thank you." Bella quickly rushed to the door and bolted it before walking to the bed and stood by the bed. Amelia tapped the bed. "Sit." She urged and Bella smiled shyly before sitting. "Luna Lilliana was a beautiful woman, loved by all including Alpha King. They weren't mates but they had been together since he became the alpha governor. She'd attend the council meeting on behalf of Alpha King when he isn't around. Just like every other day, Alpha King wasn't around." Bella paused, taking a peek at Amelia who urged her to continue. The story was not what she was expecting. She never thought Alpha King was capable of loving any other woman except Hazel and her daughter. Bella readjusted on the bed glancing at the door before she continued. "The palace was attacked that sunny day." She lowered her voice. "It's been rumored that Alpha Owen was behind the attack." Amelia gasped and Bella quickly covered her mouth. "Please calm down my Luna." She pleaded panic laced through her voice. Amelia nodded and Bella removed her hand. Amelia palmed her temple not believing her ears, rumored or not, Alpha Owen was capable of doing that. What could cause this hatred? "Rogues invade the palace, they were too much for the guards and Gamma to handle, and everything they came across was destroyed. Luna Lilliana was hurt while trying to protect pregnant Hazel." Tears brimmed Amelia's eyes sniffing back her tears. Bella wiped away her tears and rubbed her palms together. "Alpha King got back from the battlefield and was shattered by the news but he couldn't do anything, there was no evidence pointing at his father. Luna Lilliana was in pain, deep pain. She'd scream every night, asking to be killed by Alpha King until he did so one night. After that, he withdraws from everyone. The once sweet Alpha became cold, and no staff dared to face him. Even the council members know their lane." Amelia shook her head with pity, inhaling heavily. "That…that's terrific." She murmured, still in shock. Bella nodded, rising to her feet. "It is Luna. Back then, Alpha King got involved in a fatal accident while taking care of Luna Lilliana, we didn't know how it happened but his knees were badly damaged. Thank the moon that his knees were cured now. Amelia became speechless hearing that, she blinked in shock. So that was how he sustained the knee problem. No wonder, he became aggressive when she mentioned it. Her heart broke for him; he was constantly reminded of his love's death with the pain in his knees. How much more pain was he handling by himself? Her heart clenched, she wanted to get to know him, be the shoulder he rested on but that would never be possible knowing how he loved to keep his pain to himself. She would never talk about his knees again, if she can't take his pain away, she wouldn't add to it. Bella went to the curtain and drew it close. She turned to Amelia and smiled happily. "It's late my Luna, you should sleep." Amelia stood up and nodded. "I will. Thanks for today Bella," She said and Bella bowed before walking out. Amelia rubbed her temple, tired of today's affairs. She yawned and dragged her lazy feet to the ensuite. After having her bath, she retired to bed. Too tired to think about anything. But she couldn't stop thinking about why Alpha Owen hated his son. King King ran his hand through his hair frustrated for the umpteenth time since Amelia left his room. He couldn't stop thinking about her, her plum lips, her oval-shaped eyes, so blue like the ocean, and how they glowed when the light illuminated them. He couldn't get that smile out of his head, how her smile calmed the storm in his head. She noticed, how did she notice his knees? He became perfect at hiding his defect around everyone, not even Lopez or Hazel remembered that he was never healed but just a night she spent in his room, she noticed. How did she do it? 'Because she watched us like her life depended on it.' Ezra, his wolf chipped in and King scoffed. Why would she do so? We are nothing to her as she was nothing to us. Ezra thud in his head. "Why keep her at arm's length, draw her close. She is our wife. We'd never find a mate and we have to make peace with that. I want her!!!" "Never!" King snapped and he exhaled keeping his voice down before they took him as mad governor. Ezra howled but he rolled his eyes. "Forget about Ezra, I'm never going to get close to her, my father found her for me." Ezra roared at the mention of Alpha Owen, he paced impatiently wanting to dominate King but he kept him at bay. Ezra hated Alpha Owen with every blood in him, that man tortured him for days after the death of Daisy. Alpha Owen blamed them for his mistake, he was the one who chased both him and Daisy out of the palace that day because he had a meeting with other alphas knowing fully that the rogues were around the palace. Alpha Owen blamed King for her death even when he injured himself. He didn't treat him but added to his injury. Ezra was just trying to surface then but he left after that and only came after a year. King couldn't heal and that left him with an unhealing scar on his face. King closed his eyes tightly, his claws digging into his palm, and blood flowing from it. His heart burned, burned with fire and pain. He wanted revenge, nothing but that and he wouldn't rest until he had it. He doesn't need any woman, especially the one his father found for him. He snapped his eyes open and the first thing they sighted were the cookies. He pushed the container away from him and grabbed his phone to call Lopez to clear them away. What was she thinking? Giving him cookies to apologize. She looked like he would kill her when she was apologizing. To his disdain, he found himself chuckling at the flashback. "Fuck." He muttered, rubbing his face. Why was he chuckling at the thought of her? He glanced at the cookies again and a deep rich chocolate scent filled his nose. He wet his dry lips. "King, control yourself." He snapped at himself and dropped his phone. Picking a pen and journal to work on that instead. He closed that and opened his laptop. What was wrong with him and not being able to concentrate? He snapped his eyes closed briefly before reaching for the container. "Just one." He promised and open the container. The mixture of different flavors filled his nose and he scoffed. It wouldn't taste as it smelled. He thought picking the square-shaped chocolate cookie. He was wrong, the sweetness flowed in his mouth, he hadn't tasted something as sweet as this in years. He reached for the second one to his disdain, and another until he gave up about not eating them anymore. A knock on the door stopped him. "What?" He bites out. "Alpha King," Lopez called and he rose to his feet dusting his hand and he snapped the container close. "Come in." Lopez walked in and bowed in greeting. "I have something to say, it's about Amelia." King stood upright, his shoulders tightened. "What about her?"
