King "What did you have to say, Lopez?" King asked as they strolled out of his room down to the study room. The only safe place in the palace, not even his room was safe. Omegas did clean his room and he didn't trust them. "It is about Amelia, your highness." He said, opening the door and bowed as King stepped in. King paused turning to him. "I don't want to discuss about her." He said frankly, his eyes locking into his, unwavering and hard. "And I mean it." He walked away signalling that he was done with the conversation. He picked up the file submitted to his desk by the alpha council not glancing at Lopez. "Alpha Owen met with Amelia outside the palace today." King lifted his head upon hearing that. He angled his brow demanding an answer. Lopez walked closer to the desk and showed King his phone with Amelia and Alpha Owen playing on it. King's eyes turned darker every second he watched the clip, though the video was soundless. He recognized the two people displayed on the phone. How his father was displaying authority over Amelia, he could feel her fear from the phone. He pushed the phone away and turned to Lopez, his gaze harsh and impatient. "What happened?" Lopez pocketed his phone and moved back. "Alpha Owen threatened her to spy on you but she refused to do so. He promised to kill her for refusing also." King's hold on the file tightened till his knuckles were all white. A muscle ticked in his jaw as he rose to his feet flinging the file away. His jaw locked, tightening so hard that it hurt, but it was physical pain nothing compared to the one in his heart. His usually gray eyes darkened replaying every detail in the video. It would have hurt less if he hadn't watched as his father tried to cajole Amelia into working for him, even hurting her in the process. He was expecting this from him, but at least he had hope_a tiny hope that he wouldn't try to hurt him anymore. Then he lifted his head. His brow knitted into a hard line. "My father still wants to hurt me after everything he did to me." He scoffed, more wounded than angry. Lopez exhaled and glanced at him softly. "It seemed dethroning him hurt more than losing his daughter." King sneered walking to the window, he stared at the tall trees outside the palace, where everything happened some moment ago. "For this, we just started. I expected this from him but I didn't expect Amelia to turn down his offer." "It's surprising because he even promised to avenge her father's death and collect back the pack from Thomas but she refused adamantly." King's shoulder tensed, why would she do that for him? Amelia kept surprising him every day. But he couldn't trust her yet because she mentioned nothing about it to him when she visited him. 'Maybe she was afraid of us, of how we would react.' Ezra chipped in and King gritted his teeth. 'Stop finding excuses for her, Ezra. It annoyed me." 'I derived joy in annoying you.' King said nothing allowing him to bask in glory because he knew battling with him would never stop as they are both stubborn. Without turning back, he could feel Lopez tensing behind him. The poor man knew how'd behave when it concerned his father but today, he wasn't angry. He was just disappointed. "Any more news, Lopez." "Yes Alpha, the alpha council is getting impatient that Amelia has not been introduced to them." King hissed waving it away. "I will do that when I'm ready. Any other?" "Blue Moon Pack is organizing their pack festival, it's necessary that you be there with your Luna as the Alpha Governor." King rubbed his temple and kissed his teeth in annoyance. He had literally forgotten about that. Must they organize the damn party every year, they couldn't be like every pack which organized theirs every five years. He turned to Lopez. "Accept their invitation and tell Amelia to eat dinner with me tomorrow." "Yes, Alpha." He noted waiting for another order. "Sit, my father needs to know he made a mistake by doing that." Lopez gave a sly smile as he walked behind King. "I have been expecting this." ____ "And I'm done," Bella sing-song adding the final accessories to Amelia's hair, a simple love-shaped pearl was used to make a straight line at the middle of her hair. "It didn't take so much time." "Yet, you used thirty minutes." Amelia laughed while accessing her face in the mirror, the small make-up Bella applied bought her beauty out. Her smile widened seeing how beautiful she looked. "Alpha King will be so angry we are late." She groaned standing up. "No, he won't be." Bella disagreed, opening the door for her. "He wouldn't be able to deny your beauty." Amelia chuckled and caressed Bella's hair. "You know nothing, Bella." "But I know you are beautiful." She beamed skipping forward, her long black hair skipping left and right after her. Amelia chuckled, amazed at the positive vibes she carried. Not even the s****l assault could dim her light. Bella couldn't be more than eighteen years old, she wondered how she started working in the palace. "Good evening Luna," The guard greeted before announcing her arrival. Amelia exhaled and stepped into the dining room. Alpha sat at the edge of the table, his torso buckled under the black T-shirt he wore. Amelia inhaled, admiring his beauty. This was the first time he saw him dressed like this, and he killed it. His hair was tousled and looked like he just got out of the shower. Her eyes dropped to her knees and her heart clenched, she bit her lips to avoid saying the wrong things. "Good evening, your Majesty." She greeted lowering to the chair opposite him, Bella attended to her before she went out. Amelia's hands were heavy as she ate each portion of her food, chewing softly to avoid making any sound. "You denied my father to be a spy for me. Why?" Amelia stiffed on the chair, dropping the spoon. She knew this would happen, Beta Lopez could never hide something from his Alpha. She raised her head, staring softly at him. "I don't want to be, I don't like how he treated you the other day. If he can treat you that way, then who am I?" She replied genuinely, she didn't mind if King got angry at her. But surprisingly he was calm, he shrugged his shoulders as he chewed his food gently. "You surprised me, Amelia," He held her gaze, his lips curled up. "But that doesn't mean that I trust you." For the first time, Amelia held his gaze without fear rattling through her. "I understand Alpha King and I'm not forcing you, but I don't want you to hate me. I'm not like my stepbrother." The room eloped in silence as they both stared into each other's gaze, no words spoken between them just the gravity of the words said before. Their gaze conveyed what they meant but Amelia couldn't get anything from him, his eyes were calm, storm dancing in them. She removed her gaze and started eating, she didn't expect him to trust her, she just didn't want him to hate her. She couldn't survive with his hatred. Moreover, she did nothing to him. "You will be leaving for Bluemoon to pack with me in three days for the packed festival." Alpha King said as he stood up, he dabbed his mouth clean and walked away but stopped and turned to her. "Thanks for the cookies." He said and walked away not sparing her a glance. Amelia's eyes widened, and her lips stretched into a wide smile. "He ate my cookies!" She screamed into her palm, Bella rushed in hearing her voice. Amelia quickly composed herself smiling widely and Bella smiled. "See, it went well." She beamed and Amelia chuckled, Bella knew how to make her smile every time. "Yes, it did. I got an invitation to the Bluemoon Pack Festival also." "Really?" Bella screamed, her eyes bulging out with excitement. Amelia jerked back at her sudden shout. "Lower your voice.' "Sorry, I'm so excited on your behalf. Blue Moon is always bustling with good energy, three maids found their mate last year and two got their wolf. They had a really good energy." She said stretching the good. "Really?" Amelia stood up and they walked to the door. "Yes." She affirmed opening the door. "I wish I could go, maybe I can meet my mate, I dream about that every day." Amelia was silent, her heart heavy knowing she would never find her mate there unless she got her wolf before then. Even Bella had her wolf and yet she was still wolfless, it hurt so much. But if she found her mate, she doubted if King would ever leave her. "Is there somewhere serene I can clear my head?" "Serene?" She angled her brow shocked but she shrugged quickly. "Yes Luna, there was a fruity garden around here. It's peaceful and no one visits there because it's far away." "Yes, that's exactly what I need." Bella took Amelia to the garden and left immediately to clean the room. Amelia sat underneath an oak tree staring at the butterflies flying around when she heard strange footsteps moving towards her. "Bella? Are you done?" She beamed turning around. Her smile faltered, replaced with scorn. "What are you doing here?"
