Chapter 10
Amelia
She wasn't alone anymore, she was sleeping but she knew immediately if someone was with her. She'd specifically locked the door and the only person that could open it was...King.
She snapped her eyes open at the realization, and she was right.
Alpha King stood by the door with his hand crossed over his chest, and his cold gray eyes pinned on her. She rushed to her feet immediately.
"Alpha King," She bowed slightly, his eyes were cold as they roamed through her body. His lips pressed into a thin, she trailed his eyes to her body and her eyes widened. The short gown she wore hugged her body tightly showing her curves, but the worst thing was his eyes were on the scar on her neck.
"Do you need something?" She asked releasing her hair from the messy bun she packed it to. His silence was getting scary, and what the hell was he doing here? Is he done with his mistress?
King walked further into the room, his gaze still fixed on her. "Do I have to need something before coming to one of the rooms in my palace?"
Amelia clipped her mouth shut moving her gaze from him, and stared at his dress instead. He was still in the same attire as when he saw her earlier, he didn't even bother to change before coming to her. When she lifted her gaze to him, he was already approaching her. Her heart skipped and her legs moved on their own.
"What are you doing?" Her voice trembled as her back hit the wall, the pain was nothing to the coldness in the eyes of the man approaching her. What has she done again? She thought. Or was it because she saw him with his mistress? But his next words threw her in confusion.
He trailed his fingers along her hair and he could feel her shiver under his touch. He smirked and continued. "Amelia, are you forgetting the clause in the contract?" He lifted her chin and stared into her wide blue eyes.
She blinked. "What?" Her voice came out barely audible, and she couldn't concentrate. His intoxicating scent was messing with her head, and his cold touch...what was he doing to her?
King removed his fingers from her chin and placed them by her waist, his eyes still dark and emotionless oblivious to Amelia's erratic breathing. "This should be the last warning to you." Amelia could only blink in fear and confusion, last warning? What was happening here? She winced when he pinched her waist and stared widely into his eyes.
"Halo means everything to me. Halo acting sweet to you after her father's death is strange. I don't know what you have up to your sleeves but I promise to find out, I didn't want anything to hurt her again. And Amelia, you have two years here and then you are gone. If you leave she will be hurt." He tightened his hold on her waist as he gritted out each word. "Caution yourself around her, Amelia!"
Amelia's eyes widened with shock at the news. "Okay…I will." She stammered. King searched into her eyes for minutes before moving back from her.
Amelia stood rigid against the wall. Her eyes were soft with pity and shock, Halo was fatherless at that little age. She understood how it felt to be fatherless and her heart broke for the young girl.
She glanced at King who stared at her coldly, contemplating whether to trust her or not. She could hear the genuine love he had for Halo and her mother in his voice earlier.
But she couldn't stay away from that sweet girl, not when she knew how to be fatherless. She stood straight, rubbed her hands against her thigh, and cleared her throat. "I know you are worried about Halo, but I promised not to hurt her." King's eyes turned darker at the mentioning of Halo's name but she didn't back down even when her stomach churned with fear.
"But I'm sorry I'm not going to stay away from that beautiful young girl." Her voice came out bolder than she imagined. King's eyes twitched in surprise, his cold eyes softened for barely a minute.
He locked his gaze on her and smirked. "I won't spare you if you hurt her then."
Amelia's eyes softened, "I won't." She promised.
"Get dressed elegantly tomorrow, we are meeting my parents."
"What?" Amelia screamed rushing to his side. "I'm going to meet your parents. For what?" Amelia was scared and took a shuddering breath. She couldn't find the reason for meeting King's parents because of contract marriage, she was scared of King and now, his parents.
King's eyebrow twitched at her audacity to question him. "You don't question me, young woman."
Amelia shifted back, opened her mouth, and closed it back. "But…okay."
"Good, we leave by eight in the morning." He announced and walked out of the room.
Amelia released a loud exhale while walking to the bed, she slumped on it with a loud thud. What the hell just happened tonight? She brushed her long hair from her face and shuddered before wrapping her hands around her body. She would be visiting his parents tomorrow, her heart thudded at the thought.
She prayed and hoped she scaled through this phase as she had been doing here, pushing the thought away. She drifted to dreamland.
…
Amelia walked down the spiral staircase holding her dress higher to avoid stepping on it and rolling down the stairs. That would be so embarrassing aside from hurting herself. Hazel was the one who specifically picked out the red fit and flare gown for her, claiming it complimented her olive skin.
She got to the foyer and her eyes widened a bit before they returned to normal. Alpha King stood in the middle with his back facing her. His back stretched the black suit he wore, and his short black hair was gelled back and looked glossy. His height made her heart fluttered, Alpha King should be 6'4 or more.
His shoulders tensed indicating he knew she was there.
"Good morning Alpha King," She greeted bowing a bit as she stepped into his front. His eyes roamed her body, having no single emotions except the twitch in his right eyebrows.
Amelia swallowed regretting listening to Hazel about this dress, King's blank look on her made her feel bad like the dress wasn't good for the occasion.
She rubbed her palms together and tried to speak when his voice came up. "This is manageable." He said with a small nod before striding out. Amelia fell behind and scoffed. "Manageable my foot, I'm beautiful." She muttered under her breath.
King turned to her with a smug smirk. "I heard that." He hissed before walking out.
Amelia froze palming her mouth. 's**t, she should stop gossiping about him.'
She followed him outside and saw that he was already in the car.
"Your Highness." The bulky driver gave her a nod as he opened the door for her.
"Thank you." She gave him a small smile. She wasn't used to being called that title and treated like a royal. The coldness in the car hit her, she shifted towards the door and stared out of the car. She needed to be distracted, anything that would remove her mind from thinking about being alone with Alpha King, and the fact that she would be meeting his parents today.
Would they be nice to her? But seeing their son, the answers already glared at her.
"Amelia." She froze for seconds, the way her name flowed perfectly from his mouth made her shiver. Her name has never been sexier. f**k Amelia, get yourself together. She scolded herself mentally and slowly turned towards him.
"Alpha King," She answered, his smoky gray eyes fixed on her, she licked her lips nervously which caused a twitch in his right brow and she wondered why.
"When you get to my parent's house, don't get comfortable there. You must seek permission for every question thrown at you from me."
Amelia arched her brow confused but she nodded. "Okay Alpha King," She conceded, not ready to ask any questions and with the fact that the information scared her.
"For your sake, I hope you followed my rules."
