Amelia arrived at the wood, the one she'd stared at from King's room the other day. The trees lined up with shrubs between them. They were jumbled and clustered together.
She rubbed her palm over each other, nervous as she moved deeper into the wood, and stopped at a clear space.
The palace gatekeeper refused to let her out until she lied that it was Hazel who sent her out, she hoped_prayed this didn't come back to her.
She stood under a big oak tree glancing around at alert, she pierced deep into the forest and saw nothing. The continuous chipping of the birds she loved now made her skin crawl in fear.
The gravity of the stupid thing she had done came to her, what if she was killed? No one would care to look for her corpse at all. What if Rogues attacked her? She didn't have a wolf to defend herself. She shook her head and tightened her hold against the knife.
'This is stupid Amelia,' Her mind jabbed at her and she groaned. She must not die before getting revenge on Thomas and his family. At that thought, she quickly scraped out of the thick wood.
"Where are you going?" She screamed at the thick voice that vibrated through the forest. She spun around pointing the knife at the intruder, she froze seeing the man standing before her.
She blinked, maybe not eating anything since yesterday night was a bad idea, but after the third blink. She was sure of who she saw, king's father standing before her in a simple green t-shirt and trousers which camouflaged with the leaves.
He had a black cowboy hat in his hand, which he probably used to hide his identity.
How did he get here? What was he doing here? None of the questions made sense to her but only confused her more.
"Alpha Owen," She shuttered, withdrawing the knife but keeping it at her side. "What are you doing here?"
Alpha Owen flashed her a grin which made Amelia's stomach twirled in disgust. She had been in turmoil since she got the letter and the alleged sender thought it was a joke. The shock she felt minutes ago slowly changed to anger as she clutched her hand tightly on the knife. "You are the one that sent the letter?"
Alpha Owen shrugged, pocketing his hand. "I need to see you and it works." He replied walking towards her.
Amelia reciprocated by moving back with each step he took towards her. This made Alpha Owen chuckle then stopped. "I'm not going to harm you." He scoffed.
Amelia angled her brow at him before scoffing exactly as he did. "I will believe you when you love your son." Her statement was like fire on Alpha Owen, his eyes turned darker, and in a swift moment, he stood before her and grabbed her wrist.
Amelia gasped, her eyes filled with fear because she wasn't expecting that. Now, she knew where King got the trait from.
"Don't you ever say that again." He warned, gritting his teeth. He tightened his hold against her wrist and she winced before nodding.
"Okay, I won't." She cried and he released her wrist. She moved back away from him, rubbing her bruised wrist. She regretted ever ever coming here, she should have ignored the stupid text. How would Alpha King react if he knew she was with his father? "What did you want?"
Alpha Owen smiled at her before standing tall in her front. "Nothing much." He shrugged. Amelia arched her brow at him confused and he chuckled. "I came here myself so as not to cause any issue. You will be my spy."
Amelia stared blankly at him for a minute before she burst into a loud laugh. "I will be your spy? For who and what?" She couldn't believe her ears, she would have blamed her hunger if not for Alpha Owen's serious face.
He was commanding her to be his spy as if that was the easiest thing to do, why would father and son have such enmity between them? To want to kill each other.
Alpha Owen closed the remaining gap between them, Amelia dug her fingers into the bark of the tree behind her, her heart pounded in her chest as Alpha Owen glared at her, his eyes sharp and cold.
"This is not a joke, I won't be here if it is one. I want you to work for me and it's not free Luna Amelia," Mockery dripped from his voice as he referred to her as Luna Amelia. He created a space between them, his eyes softened a bit but Amelia's heart still pounded loudly in her chest.
"No…no." She stuttered and Alpha Owen's eyes flashed green. His wolf was trying to dominate him. They have never been rejected by anyone. He clutched his hands tightly and forced his eyes closed to tame his other half.
"It's not free Amelia, you will be untouchable." His voice dipped low as he stared deep into her ocean blue eyes. "I know you wanted to make Thomas pay, I will help you. You will be in control of your beloved father's pack in no time."
Amelia swallowed, removing her gaze from him, her eyes caught some pair of strange eyes piercing at her from afar but when she closed and opened her eyes. They were gone, she shook her head knowing it was a hallucination.
Alpha Owen's deal was tempting, she wanted to claim her pack from Thomas and make him pay. Alpha Owen was capable of doing that for her if she agreed to spy on King for him.
"Huh, Amelia. Come to the light side." Alpha Owen prompt seeing her lower shoulders.
Amelia stared back at him and shook her head. King would kill her if he found out, and seeing how Alpha Owen hated his son. He could hate her in no time if she did something wrong, she didn't trust him at all. Hazel came to her mind when she stared at his hazel eyes and she made up her mind. No, she couldn't betray Hazel's trust.
She stepped away from Alpha Owen and shook her head once again. "I won't work as a spy for you." She said, her voice sharp and icy. "Like I said the other day, I will be by Alpha King's side forever. He is my Alpha and husband, I will not betray him for you."
Alpha Owen's eyes flashed in anger, he gritted his teeth together and repeated her words. "No, you won't work for me."
Amelia winced terrified as she moved back. "Yes…" Alpha Owen grasped her jaw before she could complete her word.
His sharp claws dug into her delicate skin, "Then be ready to face the consequences." He tilted her head and stared into her tears-filled eyes. "You will be together with King even in the grave." He promised before pushing her to the ground and stormed away without glancing at her.
Amelia broke into a loud cry, her shoulders shook from the cry, and she drew her knees to her chest and sobbed. Did she do the wrong thing by supporting King? Alpha Owen's threat wasn't empty, the vile in his voice told everything. He would kill her and King would do nothing about it.
How did she end up being in between two Alpha's fights? Tears clung her throat as she rocked herself front and back. She feared for herself, for what next to come?
Would her life have been like this if her father was still alive? Would she have been sold by Thomas? She regretted not fighting longer for her rights, but she was hopeless with no wolf to help her fight. Just her against her enemies.
Tears fell freely from her face, would she ever survive this? Fear tingling her skin remembering Alpha Owen's threat. The only way to escape his threat was to be beside King's side every time. At least; she hoped Alpha Owen wouldn't hurt her if King was around.
She staggered up from the ground, grabbing the tree for support, pain surged through her body due to the push from Alpha Owen, she kneaded her butt and moaned out in pain before taking a deep breath. It hurt so much.
"Damn you, Alpha Owen," she cursed as she massaged her butt and wobbled away from the forest back to the Palace.
Amelia was too tired but she clearly noticed the strange pitiful eyes she got from the maids, she expected it. Their Luna wore dirty clothes with shambled hair, her cheeks stained with dry tears. It was normal for them to pity her or scorn at her.
She finally got to her room but she wasn't expecting to meet anyone there, especially Beta Lopez. Who stood in the middle of her room, his eyes laced with fury and a thin frown appeared on his forehead as he ordered.
"We need to talk."
