Chapter 2
Nadia's pov
He was dressed in a tailored suit. A royal blue suit that was ironed until it was sharp enough to cut. He looked like a piece of art ripped out of the gallery of the heavens and I just couldn't help but stair with my mouth wide opened.
He was so focused on his phone that he didn't even notice me until he bumped into me.
Yes he did. He bumped into me!
I didn't even realize how glued my eyes was on him till I lost every sense of reality and he was on his phone so he didn't notice me standing in the middle on the kitchen.
His eyes looked up lazily, not bothering to take a look at my face. He just wanted to check if it was a person or an object that he bumped into and I found that rude.
“Watch it.” He said dismissively and then returned back to whatever he was doing on his phone.
My face burned red. What is wrong with me? I bit my lips in embarrassment, angry at myself for getting lost just by the sight of my boss
He spoke again, which made me much more embarrassed than I was earlier. “Instead of looking at me like a love struck puppy, why don't you get me a bottle of water from the fridge and make my cup of coffee? Instructions are on the wall.”
I felt like killing him. What does he mean by love struck puppy? I wasn't love struck, I was just amazed at how handsome he look because even though he's rich and rude, he’s fine as hell. And he didn't even turn to see me so how did he know I was looking at him?
I shook my head and dragged my feet to the refrigerator to grab a bottle of water, then I walked towards him.
“Here is your water sir.” I said, forcing my voice to remain totally professional.
He looked up from his phone, staring at me briefly. But when he collected the water from me, something strange happened.
He froze, his eyes widening in shock as he stared at me with his mouth opened.
My i blinked twice. Am I seeing things?
“Sir? Is there something wrong? Your… your coffee is getting cold.” I said, waiting for him to talk or move but he didn't do any of that.
He just stood there. Frozen. Staring at me like I was something he recognized and feared. I felt comfortable, but I even felt more confused.
After what seemed like hours, he finally regained his composure. He quickly opened the bottle of water and gulped it down like he someone who had been running a marathon, when all he did was look at me.
He cleared his throat. “Bring my coffee up. My home office, not my bedroom.”
Then he walked out, leaving me wondering about what just happened here and why he acted in that very strange manner.
“What just happened?” I asked to no one in particular.
DORIAN’S POV
I could look away from her for six minutes. Six whole minutes which is more attention than I had ever paid anyone. But what I didn't understand was why I did that.
Immediately her face registered in my head, my wolf ran wild. Jumping and limping all over the place at the same time. It's claws scratching my insides uncontrollably.
I wasn't expecting anyone, or anything that wasn't
ordinary, and I was fully aware that the new staff is human so when I first hit her in that kitchen, I didn't even bother to look at her face.
She had no scent, she was human, and I knew that but when I finally looked at her, like really looked, I lost it.
My wolf who had always been submissive to me, not acting without my control ran wild like a mad dog released from it leash.
For eleven years, I have been governing my pack. Rulling with the composure of a man born into power and a man who was always trained to rule.
Until her.
And i just couldn't understand it. Wolf only goes wild unprovoked because of their mates and my mate should be a wolf, not an ordinary human.
I waved it off. The new maid is not my mate, how can that even be possible? I am the alpha of my pack and my mate must be something who understands not that mean. Not someone who doesn't have any experience with wolves.
I dismissed her and walked back to my office, but my wolf was still doing that thing which unsettled me and disturbed me at the same time.
Why was it racing around, and sniffing for her scent? Is she a wolf and she doesn't know yet? Questions plagued my mind. But I ignored it.
I, Dorian Ashford, alpha of the Northern region had important things that needed my attention and a maid wasn't one of them.

I didn't wait for long before the elevator doors pinged and I knew that she was the one right outside my office door. Not because of her scent, she doesn't have one. But because my wolf sensed her right after she stepped out of those elevator doors and began to pace once again.
She walked in like a naive professional and placed the coffee tray on my table while I pretended to be engrossed in the pack security patrol report that had been on my table for days.
“Your coffee is ready sir.” She announced gently and I nodded.
“Thank you.” I said, burying my face behind the papers.
By the time she turned to leave, I could no longer keep up with the pretence. I stopped her when she was almost at the door.
"You are the new coordinator." I asked in my most conversational tone and she stopped.
"Yes, sir." She turned. "Nadia Frost."
I dropped down the papers and took a proper look at her. The girl who made my wolf wild. "How long have you been here?"
"Three days."
I nodded slowly, still watching her with an intense look and steady attention. "Is the role what you expected?"
I could tell she was thinking. She thought about lie and I know because I have spent eleven years watching people who lied to themselves and others around them for minor favours. But then she didn't. She spoke the entire sincere truth.
"Thisp household is a little unusual," she said carefully. "But things are done in a clear manner and the work is straightforward."
My eyebrow raised. "Unusual? How?"
"The staff are very aware of each other," I said. "And I don't think it is because of their trainings because I've been trained too."
I nearly laughed. But then I held her eyes for a beat longer than necessary, trying to see if she is lying.
“You may leave.” I said, taking a sip of my coffee.
She walked out with her head bowed and I found myself smiling at how naive she was.
She didn't know.
She didn't know what household she's working for and what exactly she has gotten herself into. Did she even knows about the existence of werewolves?
I closed my eyes, allowing the bitter sting of coffee to hit my throat.
She is an interesting one, I’ll give her that. But I'll also keep my eyes on her.
Let's see how long it would take for her to find out, or if she'll even last long enough to find out. What I didn't realize then, was that she would totally surprise me and turn out to be far more than I ever expected.
