“What?” Derrick asked, his face contorted with confusion.
“He has my baby!” Nora screamed grabbing him by the collar.
An array of emotions swept over her and suddenly it felt like the world was caving in on her. Her throat clogged up and her heartbeat was erratic. Derrick had grabbed her at some point and she saw his lips move but she couldn’t hear anything past the loud ringing in her ears.
She pushed off him and dashed for her quarters. She’d left Deanne in charge of her baby but there was no way Deanne would have been able to fight off Dax if the need ever arose.
Her worst fears became a reality when neither Eliora nor Deanne were present in her quarters.
“Deanne took the princess on a walk.” One of the maids said. “But that was nearly an hour ago.”
