The stranger’s gaze bore into theirs. “To keep your promise,” she said. “To be together.”
Adrian squeezed Emely’s hand. “What promise?”
Emely’s mind raced. Had they made a promise? She searched her memories—the whispered confessions, the late-night laughter. And then it hit her—their first kiss, under the Whispering Oak, as raindrops fell like forgotten echoes.
“We promised forever,” Emely whispered. “No matter what.”
The stranger nodded. “Then heed my warning. Fate is fickle. Love is fragile. The next train will take you to eternity—or oblivion.”
Emely’s heart pounded. “What do we do?”
Adrian stood, his resolve unwavering. “We board that train,” he said. “Together.”
And so, hand in hand, they raced to the station—the last train of the night, its doors closing like fate’s final decree.
The stranger’s warning echoed in their ears, but they clung to their promise.
As the train pulled away, Emely looked at Adrian. “Where are we going?”
He grinned. “Anywhere but apart.”
And so, they hurtled through the night—a pair of lovers, chasing echoes, defying logic. The train’s rhythm became their heartbeat, its whistle their love song.
But then, the train slowed—a roadblock ahead, a lady police officer with stern eyes.
“Where are you going?” the officer asked.
“To keep our promise,” Adrian replied.
The officer shook her head. “The station is closed.”
Emely’s mind raced. “But we—”
Adrian’s eyes sparkled. “I overheard an address on the train,” he said. “A secret place where promises come true.”
Emely and Adrian stepped into the forgotten garden.
The air smelled of dew and possibility.
Before them stood a whimsical archway, entwined with ivy. Adrian took Emely’s hand. “Shall we?” he asked.
Emely nodded, her heart racing. They stepped through the archway, and suddenly, the world shifted. The bustling city vanished, replaced by a moonlit meadow. Fireflies danced, and the stars seemed closer.
“Where are we?” Emely whispered.
Adrian grinned. “The place where promises come true.”
And so, beneath the moon’s approving gaze, they vowed forever—a love stronger than fate, sealed with a kiss that tasted of rain and eternity.
And they registered the marriage the following morning.
