Girl Talk

1467 Words
Sophie's POV  The walk up to Tia's apartment only took me a few minutes, but I was happy for the cool hallways after my earlier panic attack. Comfortable clothes and the promise of some girl time had me feeling a lot calmer. No matter what happened on the streets, I could always count on my home to feel safe. I hoped I didn't have to leave it too soon, I liked the new life that I was carving out. I wasn't stupid, I knew eventually that I would move back in with my Alphas unless they rejected me, but for now I liked having my space. I was truly my own person for the first time in my life.  Tia's door was slightly open and I could hear a number of voices inside. It seems that there were more than just Tia and Allison hanging out. When I pushed the door open there were 2 other girls as well. Tia smiled when she saw me and told me to close the door behind myself, so I must have been the last one to the party. 5 girls wasn't too many, and Tia had a nice open plan apartment. Everywhere I looked there were pillows and blankets and she even had an old style conversation pit in the middle of the room. The perfect nest for an Omega. I was a little jealous to be honest and wished this style of apartment had been available when I was looking into my options.  "Sophia, this is Lisa and Kelly, they both live on this floor, and you already know Allison." I was thankful for the quick introductions and waved my hand at everyone before finding a comfortable spot in the conversation pit.  I looked around expecting a television set to go with the sounds I recognized as a romantic comedy from the 90s, but was unable to find one. Looking at Lisa I noticed that her eyes were fixed on the ceiling so I looked upward as well. When I came in I assumed that the slight flickering was some type of neon lighting, but instead the entire ceiling was a giant screen. Examining the floor of the conversation pit a little harder I finally noticed the recessed projector, this really was an amazing apartment.  I didn't really know anyone so I flopped down on my back and started scrolling through my phone, remembering to send my Alphas a text message to let them know I was okay. Chewing on my lips I waited for a response for a few minutes before Allison declared that I was face mask time and dragged me over to the table that she and the other girls had gathered around.  After a strange smelling gloop she swore would make me glow was applied to my face I was instructed to sit in a circle with the other girls as we did nail polish and talked. Tia chose that moment to start pouring wine for all of, a good red vintage that was sweet and comforting. I didn't normally drink much as the human world had rules about drinking age and I had never been interested in alcohol as much after my first shift. It took a lot to make a wolf drunk, so I never saw the point. Still, this wine was good and a few glasses couldn't hurt.  After a few minutes Lisa flopped back dramatically whining and kicking her legs a little. "I just want to meet me mate. I don't want to wait any longer. It's not fair, girls move in and our every single week and Kelly and I have been here almost a year without even a glimpse of our mates!"  From the sigh that Allison gave I gather that this was an old complaint, but one that everyone could empathize with. Even though mates were easier to find in the modern world, there was no promise that we would ever find them and most Omegas wanted nothing more than to find the person that would complete them.  "It'll happen Lisa, there is another dance coming up next week and a group from Portland is supposed to be attending!" Kelly squeezed her hand and tried to calm her down as I took another gulp from my wine glass.  "You want to come Sophie?" I almost choked on my wine as Tia asked me the question.  "What?"  "We have dances where unmated wolves can meet their mates, they are lots of fun, usually held in the old train station or sometimes in big gyms. You want to come and try your luck?" She topped up my wine glass and I took a big gulp before responding.  "I uh, kind of found my mate..s today?" I took another gulp at the shocked faces around me and hurried to explain. "They work in my building and I don't know what to do. They sent me home after we talked and I kind of worry they are going to reject me." Now I was the one whining, but I couldn't help it. Here I was having met my mates that day, but home at an unmated home. Today sucked.  "Maybe they just want to take it slow?" Allison was soothing in the way she spoke, and the other girls nodded along with her like she made sense.  "Maybe, but I just wanted to be marked so bad. They barely even touched me. I thought they would at least see me home but they just sent me along and told me to send them a text!" I was feeling a little drunk and petulant now, beating my fists on the pillow in my lap.  Tia refilled my alcohol and then said "You know what that means, It's time for the talk!"  I couldn't help but turn bright red and hide myself behind the very pillow I had been beating just a few minutes before. It wasn't that I didn't know how s*x worked, but the idea of it had always seemed so far away.  "What would you know that we don't?" Lisa raised her eyebrow as she demanded an answer. "This cute Beta and I had a fling a few years ago, he doesn't have a knot so it's not like I mated with him and he was more than happy to teach me a thing or two." It was Tia's turn to take a gulp of her wine and pretend she wasn't embarrassed.  "YOU WHAT???" Kelly's shrill shriek made Allison spill some of her wine and she grumbled as she cleaned it up. "Tell us everything!"  Suddenly the pressure was off of me and Tia was the center of attention, I was completely fine with this turn of events. I settled in with another glass of wine to listen and see if maybe I could learn anything.  "Well first of all, it feels good, like after a little bit of pain. If they take their time and make sure you are really into it you will enjoy it a lot. Supposedly it feels every better with an Alpha that is your mate, but it was already pretty good. I was sore the next day though, I didn't expect that." Tia started to tell us more about her past experience but I was feeling a little hazy and just sat back and let the words wash over me.  I retrieved my phone from the couch, intending to read a little bit when I saw that I had a message from Rugal. A photo was attached and when it loaded I saw Rugal and Leyla in a mirror as they sat at a huge table with lots of paperwork. My mates were hard at work it seemed.  "Glad to hear you are safe little one." The simple text read. I had another from Leyla as well. "It was a joy to see your face today."  I blushed a little but then got an idea. If she liked my face, then maybe she would like a picture. I made a group chat with the two wolves and went to wash the mask off my face. It did make my skin seem clearer and I felt really pretty. Letting my hair down from the ponytail it was in I walked to the balcony and took a picture with the bright moon behind me. My hazel eyes glowed in the light and my hair seemed paler than it usually was. Wearing my strappy tank top the tops of my breasts showed, but it wasn't overly sexy. I looked like the happy young woman I was.  I typed out a message in the group chat, "thinking of you," before adding the picture. Pressing send I put my phone away and went to hang out with the other girls.
