10 The space of the cafeteria was overwhelming. Too many people, and too many doors. There was no way to spot where danger might come from. Elizabeth sat at a table off to one side, an untouched tray in front of her, her eyes locked on me as I approached. “Come on.” Devon patting me on the shoulder nearly made me jump out of my skin. I yipped like a scared Chihuahua. But no one gawked at me. They were all focused on the lunch line, where the evil lunch lady stood on top of a table, handing out snacks to the crowd.
