27 I was flat on a cold floor. The fire was gone, and I hadn’t been burned. I pushed myself to my feet and felt around. As far as I could tell, I was in a stone room the size of a walk-in closet. Fumbling in my pocket, I pulled out the black phone. I pressed my thumb to the button, and the screen flicked on. “All this for a phone,” I muttered. But then I heard Eric’s voice in my head. This isn’t about a phone. It’s about freedom of knowledge. It’s about living outside the darkness. I scrolled across the screen to a button that looked like a ball of light.
