12 Elizabeth waited for us by the register, wearing new clothes. The salesgirl was glaring at her. Maybe because she was wearing clothes she hasn’t paid for yet. Probably because Elizabeth looked gorgeous. She wasn’t wrapped up in a fancy dress. Just dark pants and a flowy, black top, complete with a floppy knitted hat and big sunglasses. “You do know the sun will eventually go down, right?” Devon pointed to Elizabeth’s sunglasses as I stepped forward with my black credit card in hand. “I’m paying,” I said.
