The staff was trying, but the computer had totally frozen. Nothing worked.
Zoey stormed toward the stage in her heels, whole room automatically parting to make way—no one wanted to get caught in the crossfire.
“What the hell are you guys doing? You want me to get your boss to fire all of you—ah!”
She tripped over a step, landing awkwardly before Chloe Hughes rushed over to steady her.
“I’m really sorry, Miss Mitchell, the whole system crashed. We just cut the power now…” The manager’s voice trembled.
The crowd was barely holding back their laughter, some already snorting into their hands.
Zoey was fuming, absolutely humiliated. With fire in her eyes, she stomped toward Amelia Johnson.
