Finding out it was Damien Taylor who'd been poking around, Amelia Johnson didn’t hesitate—she smacked Emily Carter on the head and gave his arm a playful twist, clearly annoyed. “So what now? You’ve switched sides? Still calling yourself my bestie while moonlighting as Damien’s spy?”
Emily laughed, rubbing the sore spot on his head. “Hey, that’s a bit harsh! Besides, come on, he’s your boyfriend! If some random guy is bugging you, it’s totally fair for him to know. He just wants to protect you.”
“Right? I’m kinda making sense here, no?”
Amelia gave him a light pat. “Next time something like this happens, at least give me a heads-up, alright? It’s not easy getting a role these days. He deserves a chance. But if he messes up again, I won’t think twice about replacing him.”
