Chapter 4Maura was in her office, pouring over the finalized toxicology reports on the young woman still lying in her morgue, when a security officer knocked on her door, a large rectangular package held in one hand. “Delivery for you, Dr. Dunne. Security checked it out, it’s clean.” Maura was surprised. She hadn’t been expecting anything, but grabbed the fairly hefty parcel from the rather portly fellow, and leaned it against the wall for later. “Thank you, Mister…” she paused looking at his name card. “Bernhardt.” “Ma’am.” The portly man nodded and was gone.
