We divided into two groups of four and one group of three and patrolled the enclave, looking for whatever monster had left those footprints. But other than burned houses, broken doors and windows, and dead plants, we didn’t find anything.
After almost two hours searching, we met back at the van.
“What now?” Ryane asked.
I thought Cora would start yelling, but she surprised me. Her shoulders drooped; she remained a few steps back, visibly upset. I went to her and draped an arm over her shoulders.
