{Wynter’s POV}
I rolled over, only to be met with my father’s hellish gaze. The only thing he could manage to do was shake his head at me and walk away, completely filling my very soul with shame. Has anyone ever just given you a look and you believed whole heartedly that there was no place for you on earth? That’s how one look from my dad makes me feel every day. There wasn’t anything I haven’t tried to win my father’s approval. Everything I do is only met with a disappointed gaze and a shake of the head. My stepmother on the other hand, always had something to say. “Wynter, you disgust me! I don’t understand why you can’t just follow the rules we have set in place for you. You’re always running around and starting fights with the other pack members.” Catherine reached down and pulled me forward by the collar of my shirt. “I’m glad you’re not my kid, I would have abandoned you a long time ago if you were.” She seethed out with poison on her lips. Catherine released my shirt collar, sending me flying back on the ground. “It won’t be much longer until you are out of my hair anyway.” She cackled, turning to follow my father down the hall.
I slowly got up, using my right hand to wipe a dab of blood away from the corner of my mouth. It mattered none to me, I was already use to this treatment. I held my arms around my stomach and made my way to my room. Nothing appeared to be broken, so there was no need to see Dr, Lynch. Even the pack doctor was cruel to me. He wouldn’t really check on me. He would just prescribe me a heavy dosed pain medication and send me on my way. I’ve been trying my best not to see the doctor recently. I’ve gotten into a bad habit of taking pain medication even when I wasn’t in pain. It made me feel bliss before I went to sleep. There was nothing that could compare to the small high I would get.
I moseyed on towards my room on the first floor. I was allowed a room with a small bed. It was a children’s bed but for the most part I was able to sleep on it if I curled up enough. Tonight, I’d have to sleep on the floor, curling up wasn’t an option right now. My stomach felt like it could fall right out of my ass if I moved around too much. I was surprised I didn’t throw up. My room didn’t have a bathroom connected to it. I had to use a communal shower that was located at the very end of the hall. A lot of the upper level pack wolves had their own bathroom connected to their bedroom, but the worker wolves, me included weren’t so lucky. I was given a two in one shampoo and conditioner, along with soap once a month. Due to some beatings, I would run out trying to wash the blood away. It was often that I would use Izzy’s shampoo and soap. I had only one friend in the entire pack and even sometimes we would have to ignore each other like we didn’t exist. I never wanted the kind of attention I receive to fall on her shoulders as well. She was a beautiful younger she wolf by the name of Izzabella. She usually went by Izzy, unless it was a formal matter.
I heard my door creek open only to invite Izzy’s scent into the room. I turned and looked at her, giving her a small smile. “Hiya Missy.” I grumbled out, only to be met with a saddened expression. “What’s going on?” I asked, hobbling over towards her. The girl in front of me let out a soft sigh before saying, “Wynter, my family and I are moving at the end of this week.” Izzy rubbed her arm. This was all I needed. I could feel my world crumbling around me. I sunk to the floor and my mind flooded with all the good times I shared with Izzy. “Izzy, this is a real cruel joke, you know.” The girl in front of me slunk down to sit next to me. “I’m not joking Wynter. My family can’t stand it here and the Alpha was kind enough to let my family move. We need to take this opportunity.” She wrapped her arms around me, pulling me close to her chest.
“Wynter, you should come with us.” She mumbled into my ear, giving me a jolt of hope. I could get out of here. “I’m sure we could hide you somewhere in the moving van the pack is giving us.” She continued, stroking my hair. The girl in front of me was the only she wolf to ever be kind to me. She was as tall as she was beautiful. She stood a whole five inches taller than me and I only stand at 5 feet three inches. She had the most beautiful blonde hair that fell to the mid of her back. There was no way that she hadn’t had a mate yet. She had already met her wolf. Her wolf was just as beautiful as her. A nice dirty blonde wolf by the name of Kira. I’ve taken many strolls with Izzy’s wolf. Outside of Izzy’s family, I was the only one who knew about Kira. Werewolves usually meet their wolf in between the ages of seventeen and nineteen. I was almost twenty years old and haven’t met mine yet. I was considered a late bloomer, where as Izzy was an early bloomer. She would be eighteen soon.
I looked up at Izzy and gave her my signature frown. “Izzy, I don’t think that is a good idea. It’s a huge risk bringing me along without the Alpha’s permission.” I rested my head against her shoulder and let out a soft sob. “I couldn’t imagine anything bad happening to you.” I told her in a hushed voice. “Wynter, I would take a thousand risks for you, you know that. I’m going to talk to my family about it tonight. I want you to come with me. You know how much my mom and dad love you.” She told me, giving me a tight squeeze before getting up and exiting the room. I like the idea of leaving here and joining Izzy’s family, but if that’s all it is, an idea?
