Chapter One Josephine If I’ve learned anything in the nine months since my mom died it’s that things can always get worse. And that just because something looks pretty on the outside doesn’t mean there’s not evil lurking within. I try not to focus on that right now though, because I have little choice but to follow through with this. After parking my rusty, but trusty sedan along the winding brick driveway, I climb out, jaw hanging open at the stunning stone mansion laid out before me against a pale blue sky. I can’t believe I’m going to be living here for the next three months. It’s going to take a hot minute to adjust to my new normal. It’s old-fashioned elegance at its finest.
