The water was scalding hot, but it still didn’t feel like enough.
I scrubbed harder—my arms, my neck, the backs of my knees, like I was trying to erase last night. Or maybe brand it in deeper, I wasn’t sure. The scent of them clung to me. Musky, wild, each of them distinct, braided into my skin like smoke and fire and something old and familiar.
And I hated how much I liked it.
I leaned into the water, letting it hit the back of my neck, and squeezed my eyes shut. I could still feel them—Keegan’s shoulder under my cheek, Kyle’s deep laugh rumbling beside me, Kingsley’s hands constantly fiddling with the edge of the throw blanket, Kendrick’s cautious eyes tracking my every move like I’d disappear if he blinked too long.
They were everywhere. All at once.
