KYLE POV The pacing wasn’t helping anymore. My boots scuffed the polished wood floor as I turned once more, the familiar view from the massive window doing little to ground me this time. Forest. Lake. Sky. All of it painted in muted greys and greens, like the world was holding its breath. I should’ve been calm by now. Training had drained my body, left my muscles sore and heavy, sweat still clinging to the back of my neck even after the shower. But it didn’t matter. Not after what Mom said. “She could be yours, Kingsley’s reaction was weird ….” That’s all it took.
