Amelia's pov YEARS LATER "Who broke the vase?" I asked the three mischievous children standing in front of me looking innocent. "Nobody did," Jayden said, scratching his neck. "Then how did the vase break?" I narrowed my eyes on them. "Mummy, I did it" Kayden took a step forward. Isabella and Jayden's eyes went wide. "Mum, I was the one who pushed Kayden," Isabella said, moving beside her brother. "What? Two of you are taking the blame for me, I was the one who broke it, Mum, I was playing football inside the house" I looked at all three of them and stood up. I started picking the pieces of the vase. "Mummy, I am sorry, I won't do that again," Jayden said beside me, his eyes already filled with tears. I dropped the vase and hugged all three of them. Jayden was the most mischievous one among the trios. He was always getting in trouble and Kayden sometimes paid for it as people can't tell who is who. Kayden is more like me. He is calm and rational, he is also mischievous but he is the one who protects his siblings. Isabella is a mixture of me and Nicholas. She is mischievous and innocent which makes her get away with things mostly. "Mummy has forgiven you" I kissed their foreheads. "Don't lie to me again" I warned them. They nodded obediently. "Mummy, how do you know I am Kayden?" Jayden asked, trying to disguise himself as Kayden. I laughed and ruffled his hair. "you are Jayden, I am your mother I know who is who" he gave me a boyish grin. "Mummy will just clean the place and take you out for ice cream" they screamed with happiness and ran to their room to dress up. I cleaned the place and went to dress up. "Ready to go" I shouted, and they came running out. "Mummy, I don't know where I put my shoes" "Mummy help me button my shirt" "Mummy I am hungry let's go," all three voices said at once. I got them ready, and we went to have ice cream. "Mummy, do we have a daddy?" Isabella asked me. I paused and looked at her cute blue eyes. "What happened?" "Kelly told me every child has a daddy." I didn't know what to tell her. The ice cream on my hand was melting but it wasn't my concern. She was looking at me, waiting for my answer. "Hurry up and finish your ice cream," I said, and she forgot about her question. My mood went off after that and I managed to get them to bed without them throwing tantrums. For the past 6 years, I have tried forgetting Nicholas, but it wasn't possible. They had his eyes and looked like him. I cried on my bed, remembering the past. I miss him, I miss his touch, his smile, and his warmth. The children have been curious about their daddy as their friends always talk about their father. I can't tell the children, their father wanted nothing to do with them. I will come up with something soon. I wiped my tears and managed to sleep. I stared at the email, trying to figure out who sent it. I was told I had been in an found in a dark alley and taken to the orphanage home. I was around 2 years old by that time, so how is it possible I have a grandfather? I read the letter again. Who could this be? I closed my laptop and messaged my forehead. The letter stated that I should come back as my grandfather wanted to see me. Why didn't he find me sooner? Why is he just getting to me? Where are my parents? All these questions running through my head caused a painful headache for me. "Hey, is everything fine?" I tore my eyes from my desk and looked up to see Dylan standing in front of me. I nodded and gave him a small smile. "Are you free tonight?" He asked, leaning on my table. Dylan is a tall, lean, and funny guy who has been trying to go out with me for a month now. "No, I will be busy" The excitement in his eyes died, and he nodded and left. I didn't want to reject him but that was the time I spent with my kids. We both work in the same company and nobody knows I am a mother. To everyone, I am still single. I got a wedding invitation from Clara for her wedding and she sent a message begging me to come. I didn't want to go back there. The place reminds me of my past mistakes and sorrow. I should kill two birds with one stone. I will go to Clara's wedding and also find out my true identity. That would be the best solution for me. I knew going back was not going to be easy for me, but the desire to know who I am consumed me and I found myself and my children back in the city I promised never to return to. I booked a hotel which I will be staying in throughout my stay. I called Clara, telling her I was back in the city and she was so excited and asked us to meet. A knock came on the door and I asked Kayden to open the door as I had already gotten a call that Clara was coming up to my suite. I came out of the room and the scene before made me chuckle. Clara and the kids were in a staring competition, at least that was what it looked like to me. "Clara, it has been so long" I broke their stares and hugged her. She was still frozen. I pulled her with me and sat on the couch. I turned to the kids who looked curious at the guest. "Kids go inside the room and play a game" They gave Clara a curious look before going inside. "What do you want to take?" I stood up to get her water when she pulled me back and asked. "You have children?" I nodded my head. "Three?" She asked again with her eyes wide. "Yes, they are triplets", I answered her. "You didn't tell me Amelia, all through the years you never told me you were pregnant", I sighed and held her hands. "I was going to, but I had complications with their pregnancy and if I told you, you would have informed Nickolas" Clara was the only person I was in touch with after I left Nickolas, and she helped me. "If you warned me not to tell him I wouldn't have" I hugged her. "I am sorry, I should have told you, I was afraid," I told her the truth. I was afraid she wasn't going to believe me. I was afraid she would judge me like Nickolas did. "Call them, let me introduce myself," she said cheerfully. "Kayden, Jayden, Isabella" I called them out. "Hello," she waved at them. Kayden and Isabella waved back, but Jayden kept on staring at her. She looked at him and said "They look like Nickolas." "Who is Nickolas?" Jayden, who had been staring at her, asked. I shared a disturbing look with Clara.
