Minor Role

The duke nodded. "I will visit her shortly." The maid bowed once more and then prepared her mistress for his arrival. Eliz felt like she was about to wake up. She heard someone moving around in the room, and the sound helped her to regain consciousness. Slowly, she opened her violet eyes and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling. It wasn't even familiar to Eliz. Where the hell was she? It took a moment for Eliz to focus. "Ah... that wasn't a dream," she groaned, covering her eyes with her arm. Now she was aware of where she was. It was Elizabeth's room. If she remembered correctly, the real Elizabeth had ended up here crying after the disastrous ball and vowing revenge. But if she remembered correctly, she was not alone... Eliz turned her head and looked at the brown-haired girl in maid's clothes who walked over to her bed without saying anything. The girl looked at Eliz with attentive green eyes that hid her intelligence. Alobela. Elizabeth's personal maid. One of the few characters Eliz really liked. The maid was loyal and intelligent. That's why she could never understand the author's thoughts by letting her die. It was so stupid that Eliz almost had to spit blood. Alobela was carrying a secret message for Elizabeth when she tripped and fell off a cliff in the middle of the night. Just like that. Eliz suspected the author thought he had made her too good and useful, so he killed her? "My lady, is something wrong? Do you feel ill?" Alobela asked, still looking at her. She pondered over the answer. Her head didn't hurt anymore; she felt relatively well. But she was still messed up. Eliz was stuck in some phantasmagoria without knowing how or why. Eliz decided to change her answer. She felt terrible. And what was that voice muttering again? The status window? And why had her number changed? She wanted to try it out. Eliz was honestly curious about the legendary status window but couldn't do it with Alobela looking at her. "I feel fine. Why?" "For two minutes, you just stared at me, my lady." Eliz sighed. "I was just thinking how lucky I am to have you." Alobela barely showed emotion, but Eliz thought her eyes widened slightly. Well, Elizabeth wasn't exactly one to praise anyone. Or appreciate. Alobela didn't answer; she just turned and brought the breakfast tray over. It was the kind of wooden tray with legs that you could put on the bed and eat without getting up and going to the table. Eliz looked at what she got, and it was a really... nutritionally balanced meal. An egg, a salad, a piece of cracker, a glass of orange juice, and a small bowl of fruit. She didn't see any meat. Eliz was a carnivore. A meal without meat wasn't a proper meal to her. "Bacon?" she asked. "It's not good for your figure, my lady," the answer came immediately. "Am I a horse that eats only leaves and vegetables?" Eliz complained unhappily. "It's important that you stick to your diet, my lady." Alobela gracefully refused to budge. Eliz began to wonder if she should take up her role and make a hysterical scene to get a piece of meat. "Your father wanted to be informed when you woke up, my lady. Please eat in peace; I'll be right back," she announced and was gone before Eliz could insist on a portion of meat. "If you don't give me a piece of meat next time, I may throw you off the cliff myself," Eliz muttered somberly. Then she began to eat. While eating, she looked ahead and tried to communicate the system. "Okay, what about the number of followers? And property? It's starting to feel like some building game." "No followers, so Alobela isn't a follower either? But isn't she my handmaiden? What does she have to do to get a follower?" She was startled when she realized her role. Minor? What was that about? Wasn't she supposed to be the main villain? Eliz wondered about that; the author probably added another villain later, but she didn't know anymore. If she had any idea what would happen, she would have read that crap all the way to the end. Hearing the click of the doorknob, Eliz immediately closed the window and finally finished chewing the sad piece of lettuce in her mouth. Alobela returned and silently approached her bed. "Your father will be coming to see you soon, my lady. You must get ready," she said. As she said this, everything disappeared in the blink of an eye. Eliz still had her hand in the air where she had previously held the fork, but now she held only air. When Eliz's brain calmed down again, she finally saw that the tray and cutlery had not only disappeared from her hand but that Alobela had placed them on a small wheeled cart. Eliz was amazed and glad that at least the piece of lettuce in her mouth hadn't disappeared! She looked at Alobela again. She was skilled. That's why her stupid death made less and less sense to her. The author must have been a loser. Eliz sighed and threw back the blanket. She looked down at her beautiful, flawless legs; even her knees were perfect. Lifting her eyes, Eliz finally took in the room. Purple was obviously Elizabeth's favorite color. Everything was white, purple, or had a dark brown wood color. It might have been a little too dark for some, but Eliz could tell it had style. The walls had purple wallpaper with a pattern of deep purple thorns; the ceiling, door frame, and windows were white. Under the main window was a desk with a comfortable chair covered in purple suede, but its wooden frame was painted white. The floor was dark oak, matching the color of the tables, dresser, dressing table, and bed frame. The desk was neatly stocked with papers, an abacus, and a quill. Eliz was relieved that the sharpened bird pens were no longer in use. The large window in the center was also the door leading to the balcony. An abundance of makeup and perfume stood on the dressing table. There was only one shelf of books in the room, but Eliz had the impression that they had never been read. She returned her gaze to the dresser before her eyes wandered to the three doors in the room. One was the door to the outside, another had to be the bathroom, and the third... was clearly a closet. Elizabeth was known for her beauty and style. Therefore, she expected a huge closet. Eliz was more practical and worried about wearing clothes that were too tight and uncomfortable. She blinked as Alobela came out of the closet door with a dress. When had she gotten there? Even from bed, she saw the dress was elaborate and heavy. "Something simple today!" she quickly ordered. Alobela stopped and looked at her before returning to the dressing room.
