Lorenz and Martin were sorting through the trousers in Kasper"s store when they heard the sound of approaching horses and they turned their attention to the window to watch a wagon pull to a stop. “Lookie there,” said Martin his blue eyes suddenly gleaming. The new arrival"s gaunt team stood with bowed heads, half-heartedly switching their tails at the flies. Two more horses were tethered at the back of the wagon which had once been red, but was now faded like a barn on some war-deserted farm.
