“The Luna would like to have a tour of our pack, Alpha,” reported Levi, Jesse’s personal bodyguard and head warrior of the pack.
Levi came from a long line of powerful warriors but most importantly, he came from a powerful family who had dedicated their lives to Jesse. For this reason, Jesse had made Levi not only his personal bodyguard but also a trusted advisor, especially in the past century as he became increasingly wary of his Beta.
“She sure is a curious little one,” Jesse remarked with a raised eyebrow as an Omega servant girl fixed his tie while another brought him a cup of espresso.
“The Luna also cancelled the traditional luncheon hosted by the Luna for your harem and she requested for Parvus Millicent to join her on the tour,” continued Levi. “I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to let the Luna roam around our pack lands freely, Alpha.”
Jesse smirked as he handed the empty espresso cup back to the Omega. That Smith woman was already so keen to snoop around on her second day here and she wasn’t even interested in keeping up the facade of being the mistress of the harem like her cousin was.
The only thing that Jesse couldn’t quite figure out was the role his Omega concubine was supposed to play in his Luna’s little plan. A frown etched across his face as the need to know and be in control got him in a fluster.
“Let her do as she pleases,” Jesse ordered, “but I want you to follow her every step of the way. Do not let her out of your sight and report everything back to me.”
It was still quite early in the morning when an entourage of Theta warriors led by Levi showed up at the Luna’s quarters with Parvus Millicent and new Omega servants for the Luna. Having dismissed Nessa and the two female buttonmen who had helped her get ready for the day, the Luna was alone in her bedroom and greeted the werewolves on her own.
Needless to say, everyone but especially the Omega werewolves were surprised by the Luna’s action. The Smiths were a tight knitted clan and the past Lunas had refused all Omega servants and Theta warrior guards. Instead, they had always relied on their own despite living within the Tiger’s Eye Pack.
“Shall we?” Rosalee asked while smiling radiantly at the dumbfounded werewolves standing outside her door.
“Are you not bringing any of your clanswomen, Luna?” asked Levi, his voice barely concealing his confusion.
“Do I need to?” asked Rosalee with a raised eyebrow. “I assumed that as Luna of this pack, all of you are sworn to protect me, so there’s no need for me to bring my own guards, is there? They’ve had a long day yesterday and I wanted to give them some time off.”
“Of course, Luna,” Levi answered quickly, his hastiness to dispel any doubts that Rosalee might have towards her pack ate right into her hands.
She knew that there was something fishy about her cousin’s death and by putting her own lives in the hands of her husband’s personal bodyguard, she was leaving them no choice but to ensure her safety or risk their alliance with the Smith Clan. Having the werewolves’ protection also meant that she had less to fear from Nessa and the female buttonmen.
The tour was boring and uneventful just as Rosalee had expected. Millicent was very quiet and not exactly great company. She would always lower her head while speaking with Rosalee and the only times she spoke were when Rosalee had asked her a question.
Rosalee wasn’t sure if the Parvus was quiet by nature or she had been instructed by their husband to hold her tongue, but one thing was obvious to her, the Omegas of this pack were like wallflowers. They were present everywhere, serving the other werewolves within the pack but their presence was muted. It was almost like they were trying to be invisible and the rest of the werewolves were more than happy for them to be invisible.
“Millie, is it alright if I called you that?” Rosalee asked the Parvus gently, attempting to get onto a more personal level with the young concubine.
“Yes, Luna,” Millicent responded shyly as she stole a quick glance at the Luna. Her heart fluttered for the first time in months after the euphoria of being chosen by the Alpha to become a Parvus was quickly overtaken by disappointment and fear. The previous Luna was dying when she entered the harem but her clanswomen were not, and they were anything but kind to her.
The Beta’s sister was also a Parvus at that point in time and her wrath at an Omega who had gained the same title as her left nothing to imagination. Using her family’s position within the pack, Orphelin ensured that Millicent continued to live like a lowly Omega. With no servants of her own, Millicent had to clean the small quarters assigned to her on her own and continue working in the kitchen in order to get her three meals.
Though she was a Parvus in name, Millicent lived like any Omegas in their pack with the additional chore of pleasing the Alpha in bed at night. At first, she held out hope that the Alpha would do something about her plight, after all, she was his concubine.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Although the Alpha visited her quarters often enough, it was only for a quick fück. Each time, he would mount her from behind with no foreplay and leave after he had found his release without as much as a kiss or even a thank you.
It became clear to Millicent fairly soon that the Alpha wasn’t interested in her or even her body. He was just ploughing her like a farmer trying to get his hopefully fertile land to produce a good harvest for him.
Not only would the Alpha not give a damn about her living state, he probably would also discard her like a pair of worn-out socks if she didn’t produce an heir for him soon. Rumors were already spreading within the pack that she was probably infertile, seeing how she had yet to become pregnant after almost a year as the Alpha’s concubine.
The gentleness of the new Luna and her interest in Millicent’s life was like the rain after a long drought, soothing the fears and loneliness in the young Parvus’s heart. Perhaps the Moon Goddess had finally heard her pleas and sent her a guardian angel?
Suddenly, a naked young she-wolf bumped head first into the Luna even as shrill mocking laughs filled the air.
“I’m so sorry,” mumbled the naked she-wolf as she desperately tried to cover herself with her arms.
Before she could run off, Rosalee asked for the picnic blanket that one of the Omega servants had brought along with them. Without a word, she wrapped the blanket around the naked she-wolf and gestured at Levi to allow the young she-wolf to leave.
“I assume that the young she-wolf is an Omega?” Rosalee asked the entourage of werewolves accompanying her on the tour sternly.
Her piercing gaze sent a shiver down Levi’s spine as he saw the fury burning in those beautiful emerald eyes.
“Yes, Luna,” he responded uneasily.
“I see,” Rosalee said quietly, as if she had suddenly understood something. “I’ve seen enough for today, Levi. Thank you for bringing us around and ensuring our safety. If it isn’t too much trouble, I’ll like to spend the remainder of the afternoon with Millie.”
Surprise and joy lit up the young Parvus' face at the Luna’s unexpected favor and she smiled eagerly at the Luna while an equally shocked Levi mind-linked the Alpha immediately to ask for guidance.
The Alpha’s instructions had been clear this morning, do not let the Luna out of your sight, but the Luna’s order right now made that impossible. Rosalee watched in amusement as the head warrior’s light brown eyes glowed, knowing full well that she was probably only allowed on this little tour because her husband had eyes on her.
She wondered what he would say if only he knew what she had found out and the idea this new knowledge had given her.
