Chapter 13
Vera left early as she was now working day shift. Shortly after she had left the phone rang.
“Hi Cowboy.”
It took a few seconds for me to adjust. The woman who had spent the night in my bed, who had worked her way into my heart, did not know about Gina, and this early morning phone call could have been embarrassing, if Vera had still been here. The adventures that Gina and I had enjoyed were a thing of the past, and she was not a threat to Vera, yet I still kept her a secret.
“Gina. Great to hear from you. How are you? How are things in London? The kids? Shirley?”
“We are all well. I hope you are too. Not arrested yet?”
